Can no longer afford Klaviyo - Help porting away

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

I’m small artist where my subscriber list has grown but the cost to run it is so high I can’t afford to sustain Klaviyo anymore.

This platform is perfect for pure ecommerce based business but the change with forced product upgrades means that the high costs are not workable as an artist.

Has anyone had any experience porting away from Klaviyo? Is there anything I should take into account?

Hey @Cathrin Machin

I understand that rising costs can be tough, especially for a small artist. Before deciding to leave Klaviyo, consider its unique value: suppressing inactive subscribers can significantly reduce your costs, and tools like automated flows, segmentation, and personalized campaigns can help you nurture relationships and increase revenue. Klaviyo also allows you to monetize your list creatively, offering exclusive content or creating VIP segments to support your art. Its rich analytics and advanced features make it an investment in your growth, giving you insights and tools that are hard to find elsewhere.

If you still decide to leave, ensure you’re fully prepared: export all subscriber data (including segments, tags, and activity history) and back up your email templates and flows. Research other platforms carefully, keeping in mind that you may lose some of the automation and personalization that make Klaviyo so effective. However, if you’d like, I can help analyze your account and brainstorm ways to make Klaviyo more affordable while driving better results—it might just be the right solution for your artistic goals after all.

I hope this helps and thank you for sharing your question here in the community.

Cheers

Hi @Cathrin Machin

Are you still looking for help with this process? I’d like to echo Arpit’s answer above and mention that you’ll be potentially able to avoid a higher-priced plan by suppressing inactive profiles. List-cleaning by suppressing inactive profiles is an important part of maintaining good email deliverability anyway, and has the added benefit of removing the least active profiles from your active profile count, thus helping lower your plan.

This article here explains how to suppress your inactive profiles, and might be worth checking out! Overall, I would recommend suppressing those profiles that haven’t opened an email or interacted with your website in a very long time. This will keep your list clean and help reduce costs.

Let me know if I can answer any additional questions.
