How to disable Klaviyo automated "thank you" text message?

Hi,

I just set up a text message welcome flow and my first welcome message that I created after someone double opts-in (replies “YES”) is a thank-you, with a coupon code for the first purchase.

However, when testing this, the first message I get back after replying YES to the double opt-in is a different automated thank you message that I did not set up, just one that says “Thanks for signing up for updates! Text HELP for help; STOP to opt-out. Msg & data rates may apply, frequency varies.”

Then like 1 minute later I get my actual welcome text with the code. How I can I turn off the first message that I didn’t set up? The standard language with directions about HELP and STOP isn’t necessary; it already came in the first opt-in. This is going to frustrate anyone who is looking at their cell phone for the welcome discount code and not getting it.

I can’t find anywhere to do this on Klaviyo, can someone direct me to where to turn it off?

Thanks much!

Hello @Hope L,

Welcome to the Klaviyo Community!

Sounds like you’re referring to the the automated SMS keyword responses. Although you can typically add, edit, and delete keywords, there are certain ones that you would not be able to. This includes the automated response for when a recipient responds with a “YES” or “Y” to confirming their opt-in.

Instead, I may suggest editing either the automated keyword response phrasing or the phrasing of your Welcomes Series SMS response. I’ve seen a great example of this with some brands using the automated response as part of their welcome series flow with phrasing such as “hang tight, your coupon is on it’s way!” or something similar. You can learn more about how to add, edit, and delete SMS keywords from the How to Add, Update, or Delete Custom Keywords Help Center article.

I hope this helps!
