Most Effective Strategies for Increasing Revenue with Email Marketing

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

Hi everyone,
I'm diving deeper into the world of email marketing and looking to refine my strategies to drive real results. I work with eCommerce brands and want to optimize campaigns for maximum revenue.

What strategies have worked best for you when it comes to:

  • Improving open and click-through rates?
  • Segmentation and automation?
  • Customer retention through email sequences?

Would love to hear your insights, examples, and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi @Pedro18,

Simply put, try deliver the right people, the right content at the right time.

Right people = correctly segment, interests, behaviour, persona, LTV, events based on what action you want them to take (convert, sign up, brand/TOF).

Right content = generic content works some of the time, but personalised content (or even more segment focussed content) works all of the time.

Right time =. not everyone needs to see everything all the time. Pick and choose when your content will be most impactful both for the customer and the brand.

Hi Pedro -  Marketing strategies transcend what platform you are using, so it would be good if you went to the Klaviyo Webinars that discuss Marketing more in general, or seasonal efforts, or if you went to Webinars sponsored by the American Marketing Association . There are plenty of free Webinars where you can learn Marketing strategy, and then you can apply that to your Klaviyo use.

The Klaviyo specific Webinars can help you with doing these things inside Klaviyo, but also take some time to broaden your knowledge into the greater area of Marketing. It should be an enjoyable learning experience.

Hi @Pedro18,

Welcome to the Klaviyo Community!

I would say the biggest mistake that we see brands make is that they permanently keep people in their “newsletter” segment/list which in turn harms deliverability and overall open & click through rates. Just because a customer bought coffee beans from you 12 years ago doesn’t mean they’re still interested in receiving emails from you! (Coffee beans came to mind as I just made myself a cuppa).

My best recommendation to get started would be to look at the Klaviyo Power Up - it is full of step-by-step guides, best practices, live trainings, courses and certificates and is filled with actionable learnings that you can use to drive value for your eCommerce brands. This includes specific resources around segmentation and retention.

In addition - you’ve found the community which is full of like-minded people that can answer any questions you have!

Thanks
David

Hello Alex,

I appreciate your response! I've already completed the Klaviyo product course and regularly attend live trainings hosted by Klaviyo. These have been incredibly helpful for platform-specific tactics.

However, I’m now looking to deepen my knowledge in areas like brand analysis, strategic marketing organization, and managing marketing operations at a higher level. Do you know of any courses, academies, or resources that focus on these aspects? Something that goes beyond execution and into the strategic and operational side of working with eCommerce brands?

Thanks in advance!

Hi David,

Thanks for the warm welcome and for sharing your insights! I completely agree—keeping unengaged subscribers in a newsletter list is a common mistake that can seriously hurt deliverability. Love the coffee analogy, by the way! ☕

I’ve already completed the Klaviyo Power Up program and regularly attend live trainings, which have been incredibly valuable for platform-specific strategies. Now, I’m looking to expand my knowledge beyond execution and into the strategic side of marketing—specifically, brand analysis, marketing operations management, and structuring long-term retention strategies for eCommerce brands.

Do you know of any courses, academies, or resources that focus on these areas? Something more advanced that dives into the bigger picture of marketing strategy and brand positioning?

Appreciate your help!

Best,
Peđa

Hello Hani,

This is such a simple yet powerful way to think about email marketing. I really appreciate your insight—I'll be keeping this framework in mind moving forward!

I especially like the point about not everyone needs to see everything all the time. It’s easy to fall into the trap of over-communicating, but true impact comes from delivering value at the right moment.

Thanks again for sharing this! If you have any favorite resources or case studies that dive deeper into these principles, I’d love to check them out.

Best,
Peđa
