Hello!

I am new to Klaviyo so I’m having several issues please.

  1. I’m trying to set up everything and I was previously with Flodesk so before even adding the list of my current subscribers, Klaviyo is showing me I have 198 active profiles. Was this from anyone who was visiting my shop? Can someone please explain as I have only about 154 subscribers from Flodesk. Where did these 198 profiles come from and do I import Flodesk subscribers to this list too?
  2. I also want to understand how to set up the lists and flows properly. Do I create a master list of all current subscribers to send campaigns to?  Then do I create another list for new subscribers that are added via a form? Please see the screenshot attached. I dont have any members in it currently but do I pull in the active profiles somehow and Flodesk subscribers? If so how do I do that?
  3. I thought I was supposed to create a form using the left menu but then I noticed after you create a list, it asks to create a form and a subscribe page and sign up form. Is this where I create a new list for my welcome sequence and add the pop-up form for new subscribers? What is the subscribe page for? Who sees this page and where does that live on my Shopify site?
  4. My last issue is I cant send any test emails. I looked at everything I could in settings etc. Is anyone able to help with troubleshooting this please?

Hey @trishap612

The difference between your 154 subscribers from Flodesk and the 198 profiles in Klaviyo could come from a variety of sources: If you've integrated Klaviyo with your website, it may have captured visitors or users who performed actions on your site, like adding items to their cart or viewing products. Klaviyo automatically tracks these profiles even if they haven’t explicitly subscribed. Some may also be subscribers captured through other forms or previous integrations before you uploaded your Flodesk list.

Should you import your Flodesk subscribers? - Yes, you should import your Flodesk subscribers into Klaviyo. You can upload them into your primary email list. You can merge this new list with any existing active profiles by matching email addresses to avoid duplicates.

Setting up lists and flows properly:

  • Master list: It's common to create a “master list” for all your subscribers. This is the list you can use to send campaigns.
  • Segmenting: You can segment subscribers based on engagement (e.g., engaged in the last 30 days), purchase history, or any other behavior.
  • Flow for new subscribers: Yes, creating a separate list for new subscribers via a form is a good approach. You can then set up a welcome flow triggered when someone is added to that list.

Creating forms:

  • You can create forms through the Klaviyo platform by navigating to the “Signup Forms” section in the left-hand menu.
  • After you create a list, Klaviyo often suggests making a form and a subscribe page. The subscribe page is where people will be redirected when they submit the form. This page can be customized or set up to show a thank-you message. You can place these forms as pop-ups on your Shopify store to capture new subscribers.

Test email issue: If you’re unable to send test emails, check the following:

  1. Ensure your email address is verified in Klaviyo.
  2. Check if your sending domain is authenticated properly.
  3. Review email sending limits and your subscription status.
  4. Try clearing browser cache or using a different browser.

I hope this helps

Cheers

Arpit

Thank you so much!

I have now one master list and a segment that is called “new subscribers” which will capture those who use the form. However, how does it know which form to capture subscribers from? The form I built in Signup forms was a pop-up. However, how does it know to place anyone using that form into this segment? The segment is triggered by those added to the “new subscribers” segment.

Also if I am going to be importing contacts into my master list then how does Klaviyo add in the 198 profiles to this list? Do I need to do that manually? Will all future profiles continue to add to this list? How might I make that happen?  I’m not sure after I add those subscribers from Flodesk how it will cross-reference the active profiles currently in Klaviyo to make sure there are no duplicates.

I’m so sorry I really need someone to walk me through this so I don't potentially send incorrect emails to people when I pull them over. Thank you!

Hi @trishap612, have you gotten this sorted?
