Are you allowed to change someone's email address if its been entered wrong?

Looking at some of our hard bounces I can see that some people have entered their email addresses wrong i.e. blahblah@blah.con when it should be .com at the end. Am I allowed to change this without infringing any compliant rights?

Last time I checked we were not able to do this.. when we try to edit the email nothing changes. So the solution that we had was add the actual email as new profile and then merge the 2 profiles..
