Hi,

Going through the process of a list clean and came across this Klaviyo article. I created a segment to remove spam trap emails and came across one profile starting with info@ that infact did place an order. All others have received and opened every single email, but don’t show any other activity. So, what is the best way to avoid suppressing emails that may be legit but do start with for example info@ — include a condition such as “placed order 0 times”?

Also, when it comes to manually suppressing profiles/segment, some articles/tutorials mention downloading the .csv and then uploading it to your list vs clicking the 3 dots to the right of the segment and selecting “Suppress current members”. Does it make a difference how you suppress?

Many thanks!

BR, Nat

Hi @NatM,

That’s a good question! In general, emails that start with info@, support@, admin@, ect aren’t legitimate inboxes that open emails, but there isn’t a set rule for this across the industry, so there could be an uncommon situation where an individual with one of these emails opens an email or places an order. Either way, you’ll want to make sure that none of the people in this segment have any real interactions with your business. The best way to do this is to add some conditions to your segment that filter out people who have interacted with your website. Add these:

AND

Person has Active On Site zero times over all time

AND

Person has Viewed Product zero times over all time

AND

Person has Started Checkout zero times over all time

AND

Person has Placed Order zero times over all time.

Anybody who has taken these actions will not enter your segment, as they’ve had some sort of real activity.

The best way to suppress a segment is to go back to your main Lists & segments page, and find the segment that you’d like to suppress. Without navigating away from the page, click the 3 dots on the right side of the segment, and then press “Suppress current members.” This will allow you to suppress them without uploading/downloading any CSVs.

Let me know if I can answer any more questions!
