Klaviyo x Shopify Markets Concerns ?

Hi Klaviyo Team,

We integrated Klaviyo with Shopify Markets (5 markets) a few months ago and have found it challenging to manage unique promo codes across different markets.

We would appreciate your suggestions or any available workarounds for the following concerns:

  1. Is Klaviyo able to generate unique promo codes that apply only to a specific Shopify Market, or is this a feature planned for future development?

We understand that we can either create static discount codes in Shopify or generate dynamic codes in Klaviyo and then manually update the settings and restrictions in Shopify Discounts. However, this workflow is not ideal for merchants in execution.

  2. For a popup form offering a welcome discount to new subscribers, is it possible for Klaviyo to detect whether the email address already exists in Klaviyo and display a message such as, "Your account is already registered," instead of generating a new promo code?

Currently, existing customers who sign up again can still receive the new customer offer, even though they already have an account in Shopify and Klaviyo.

We understand that we can limit the popup form to specific lists, segments, or existing Klaviyo profiles. However, this is not an good solution, as most visitors do not sign in when browsing the website.

  3. We also have invalid email addresses in our database, likely due to customers entering incorrect email domains (e.g. typing errors).

Is there a way for Klaviyo to identify these invalid email addresses before campaigns are sent? Our suppression suggestions are currently blank, so it doesn't appear to detect these cases. It would be helpful if Klaviyo could provide a separate list of potentially invalid email addresses so merchants can review, correct, or suppress them proactively instead of repeatedly attempting delivery until the emails eventually bounce and become suppressed.

We hope Klaviyo will consider improving these areas in future updates, as they would greatly enhance the experience for merchants managing multiple markets. In the meantime, we would greatly appreciate any recommendations or workarounds you can share.

Thank you for your time and support, and we look forward to your suggestions.

Hey @PAZZION , you have raised some really valid points, especially for brands running multiple Shopify markets.

For the market specific promo codes, klaviyo currently can't generate dynamic coupon codes that are automatically restricted to a specific Shopify Market. The dynamic codes come from a single Shopify discount, so any market restrictions still need to be configured in Shopify itself. If each market has different rules, the most practical workaround is to create separate Shopify discount sets for each market and connect each one to the corresponding klaviyo form or flow based on the visitor's market or language. It's a bit more setup, but it keeps the discounts isolated.

Regarding the welcome popup, klaviyo can prevent someone from subscribing to the same list twice, but it doesn't check whether the email already belongs to an existing Shopify customer before showing the success step or issuing s coupon. If an existing customer isn't already in the target list, they can still qualify for the form. A workaround is to trigger the coupon in a welcome flow and add a flow filter to exclude profiles that have already placed an order or meet your way, existing customers can still subscribe if needed, but they won't receive another new customer discount.

For invalid email addresses, klaviyo doesn't proactively identify typo domains like Gmil.com OR yahoo.co before sending. It's suppression system is based on actual results, so addresses are typically suppressed only after they hard bounce. If you are seeing frequent typos, adding email validation at the point of sign up is your best option. Many brands use Shopify compatible email validation tools or custom form validation to catch common mistakes before the profile is created which helps keep the list cleaner from the start.

I hope you find this helpful!

Hi there @PAZZION,  thank you for taking the time to share this thoughtful feedback!

I can see how those gaps would create friction, especially when managing multiple markets and trying to keep signup offers, promo code workflows, and list quality as clean as possible. @MANSIR2094 has provided the best and most accurate information here, and I’ve shared your feedback with our product team for consideration.

I recommend a tool like ZeroBounce to help clean lists of emails that would likely bounce

Thanks for the recommendation! A good email verification tool can definitely help reduce bounce rates and improve overall deliverability.
