Shareable Campaign Web Link

Hello, I am possibly transitioning from Mailchimp. I normally create an email campaign that I use as a weekly newsletter that I send out to my customers. I would then take the campaign archive link and use it in text messages to drive other customers to the same newsletter. How can I do this in Klaviyo? I want to create an email campaign and then link to the completed web document via text.

Thanks!

Hello @ch2020,

Thanks for sharing this with the Klaviyo community.

You can add a webview link to your campaign, which gives recipients a link to a web page that displays your campaign. To achieve this you would use the {% web_view %}  tag in your campaign email.

Once you have this web view link populated, you can put it in this share link generator that will create a public-facing URL. In turn, that URL can be embedded for use in your future SMS messaging.

With that said, and as @retention nicely points out in the thread below:

the public-facing link is technically intended for the recipient - so just be careful of using it more broadly (example - the unsubscribe link, preferences, and any personalization intended for the email). For example, if the campaign uses a personalization tag like {{ first_name }} and reads “Hi Jim”, that wouldn’t be great for a broader audience accessing that campaign URL. So keeping the email more generic is key for success here.

I hope that was helpful.

Anyone from Klaviyo reading this? This feature should be a staple with this platform. 2 years, and still no further forward? C’mon….

We recently switched from Mailchimp as well and discovered we were including a link that required users to login to see it. The only option I’m finding is to share a link intended for an internal recipient, then copy that link with the hopes that nobody that clicks on your shared link unsubscribes you? This is really silly. I’m seeing 2 years of people asking for this feature. Why is there no public link option to share?

7 months later, still missing this feature. The “share link” is not a good option as it can unsubscribe the recipient. This is a feature we were using for close to a decade with Mailchimp. How much longer until Klaviyo gets this implemented?

I finally discovered a workaround.

  1. Remove the unsubscribe link if it’s in the body of your email. Klaviyo will give you a warning message when you go to schedule your eblast. Continue anyway. Klaviyo will automatically add an unsubscribe OUTSIDE of the email template so it’s still compliant.
  2. Make sure you have the code to “view in web browser” in your email template.
  3. Include yourself as a recipient in your mailing list.
  4. Now send your email and open the copy that was sent to you (as a subscriber).
  5. Click the “view in browser” option.

Create a list with just you as a subscriber and test it out.

Because the unsubscribe link was outside of the email template, it will not be included in the HTML version of your email. Which means the shared URL will not allow someone to unsubscribe you! Hope that helps someone!
