For Community Member Appreciation Week I am excited to feature some of our most active and inspiring members. I connected with Callum (Verve™) to learn more about their background and advice for others, here’s what Callum had to share:
Can you share a bit about you and your business?
Verve™ is a full service digital agency based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. We have an agile team of local developers and marketing experts and work with wonderful clients in a range of different sectors. We are really proud to be a B Corp (one of roughly 2000 in the UK) and we put people and the planet at the heart of everything we do. I’m Callum and I’m the Marketing Manager at Verve. Previously, I worked directly for eCommerce companies and migrated one from Mailchimp to Klaviyo, oftentimes I drew on this very community for expertise and support!
What drew you to partner with Klaviyo?
I have used a huge amount of email marketing software, from Mailchimp to Yotpo and Dotdigital; in my experience Klaviyo simply outperforms them all. When I made the switch to agency side, becoming a partner and being active in the Community was a no-brainer to me. I’m able to achieve big wins for my clients by helping them migrate to Klaviyo and improve their retention strategy! One of my favourite things though is the quality of your support agents and the helpfulness of community Champions.
What attracted you to join the Klaviyo Community?
I used the Klaviyo Community a lot when I worked directly in an eCommerce company. As an agency, we work with so many different accounts so we are always learning and finding things out. It’s a privilege to get access to this much data and to spend this much time learning, so it’s great to be able to give that back in the community.
How has the partnership with the Community affected your business?
In all honesty, even as Klaviyo Partners with a team of experts, the Community is still an awesome source of great solutions and ideas which help us deliver a better service. We have a little internal competition for who can get the most top answers too, which is fun if you are winning.
What advice do you have for other potential partners considering joining the Klaviyo Community?
We try to run a rule here of breaking even. By this I mean, if you rely on a support ticket or a Community page for a solution to a problem that helps you, then go into the Community and solve someone else’s problem. I’d recommend doing this, it’ll only help us all!
What would you like to see more of in the Community moving forward?
I sometimes think your support agents can be a bit under-appreciated. As a full service agency we work with a lot of different platforms and I have never found a chat with such knowledgeable experts on the end of it. It would be nice to celebrate them a bit more.
What’s one thing you think more people should know about the Klaviyo Community?
How quickly they will receive expert help. I think people expect long wait times in forums but these are not long wait times and the solutions are great.
If you were to share one piece of advice for someone starting out with Klaviyo what would it be?
My advice would be to dive deep. There is so much you can do with this software and the power to automate means a lot of your work will fall in the initial setup. Set a week aside and learn as much as you can. Alternatively, find an agency who can help. There are a lot of great ones in the partner directory and we love to hear about your businesses.
What’s something you wish someone would have told you when you started out in digital marketing?
I spent about four years walking in custard with other email marketing platforms before I discovered Klaviyo, so for me, I’d have loved to know which tech stack to use. Klaviyo is where I’d start for emails.
