:star2: Hello, Community! I’m Devin, a Senior Product Manager at Klaviyo :star2:

Hi everyone! I’m excited to introduce myself and share a bit about what I’m currently working on. As a Product Manager, my job is to ensure that the products we build are not just functional, but genuinely useful, enjoyable, and empowering for all of you. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us shape and improve our features, so I’m eager to start this journey with you.

:rocket: What I’m working on: Making our email editor easier to use! :rocket:

I am looking for your perspective on our drag and drop email editor. I’ve been gathering initial insights, researching what other teams and users need, and brainstorming with the team. But, as anyone in this field knows, the real magic happens when we tap into the collective expertise and unique perspectives of our community — that’s you! :star2:

  • What is in scope
    • Anything and everything that would help make it easier for you to create beautifully designed emails in our drag and drop email editor
  • What is out of scope
    • Other feedback on the Klaviyo product not related to the drag and drop email editor

The timeline

  • June 2 - 13: share your ideas on how you would like this feature to evolve
  • June 16 - 20: I’ll analyze the feedback received
  • Week of June 30: I’ll follow up with priorities and next steps

:ear: I want to hear from you! :ear:

I’m at a stage where your feedback can make all the difference. I’d love to hear about:

  • Your current experiences with our email editor. What do you love? What challenges do you face?
  • Ideas and wishes: If you could dream up your perfect wishlist for the email editor, what would it look like?
  • Any pain points or gaps you think can be solved by your feature requests.

I’m here to listen and learn, and I’m committed to making sure your voice is part of our design process.

Thank you in advance for your help! I can’t wait to collaborate with all of you and make our email editor best-in-class.

Let’s build something great together! :rocket::sparkles:

July 2025 update

Thank you again for your valuable feedback on the template editor, this was our first time asking the Community for your help in guiding our next steps and strategy and it was great learning from all of you.

As a follow-up, here are the top-voted ideas and where they stand:

Coming soon (planned for Q3)

Already possible (but not obvious)

  • Text over images (@sbleakley)
Use a Section block with an image background and overlay a Text block. We’re working on making this feature easier to discover.
    • More context: Great news! This is actually already possible. You can use a Section block, add an image as the background, and then place a Text block over it to achieve the effect you're looking for. That said, we really appreciate your feedback. Based on the number of requests and votes, it’s clear that this functionality isn’t as discoverable as it should be. We’re actively exploring ways to make it more intuitive, whether that means introducing a new block type or improving how the current feature is presented.

In progress / this year

In backlog

  • Dark-mode customization (@Ciara)
Complex due to design requirements. AI-based solutions being explored, but not a near-term priority.
    • More context: Implementing this feature would require us to maintain two separate design states: one for regular mode and one for dark mode, which adds a layer of complexity to both development and ongoing maintenance. While we’ve explored the idea of using AI to intelligently adapt dark mode settings, this type of solution would likely require significant support from other teams and may not be a near-term priority. That said, we’re keeping it in mind as we continue to improve the experience.
  • Dark mode preview in-canvas (@possum)
Not planned, but we’re considering increasing inbox test credits.
    • More context: This is not something we are planning to build since we have recently released the ability to preview dark mode with inbox testing. We are, however, considering raising the number of credits for paying customers so you can use this more!
  • Reduce code weight for Drag & Drop emails (@JFoster)
More exploration needed. On hold for now, may revisit in Q4.
    • More context: Additional exploration needed, we spent a lot of time on this in 2023, but there is more we can likely do here. In backlog for now and we will look into it in Q4.

Thank you for all of your upvotes and ideas! If you don’t see your ideas listed above, rest assured - they’re still part of our ongoing conversations around product improvements. While they may not be prioritized right now, your voice matters, and we truly appreciate your input. We're excited to keep building with your feedback in mind!
