If I query the https://developers.klaviyo.com/en/reference/get_profiles endpoint to get created/updated profiles each day.  I see acount of 100+ created profiles in our Klaviyo count.  However, when I login and use Klaviyo’s reporting and look at subscriber growth (https://www.klaviyo.com/people/subscribers) I see much lower number of subscribers on the same day.

I’m assuming there’s some nuanced difference between the two counts, so I was hoping someone could help explain that to me.

Hi @bweidfc,

Created profiles would return any profiles that’ve been newly created in the account, whether they’ve subscribed to email/sms marketing or not.

For example, it’s rather common for a profile to be created in an account through an integration (e.g. a user who starts a checkout in Shopify, or someone who completes an Okendo survey etc.). However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ve subscribed to receive email or sms marketing.

The subscriber growth report would only count the profiles that have opted into marketing for either email or SMS.

Let me know if the above seems to explain it, or if you have any follow up questions!

Cheers,
Bobby
