Monthly Newsletter Flow with initial welcome email

Hello, 

I’m looking to build out a Monthly Newsletter. Here is the breakdown of how we would like it to work

  1. Someone signs up for our newsletter
  2. they receive a welcome email
  3. They receive the next monthly email when scheduled. If the user signs up in April, they would receive the welcome email, then the April newsletter email.
  4. They would then receive the monthly email in on the normal scheduled time of the 1st of each month.

Is flows the best way to do this?

Jumping in here - the best way to send out Monthly newsletter emails would be through campaigns, and scheduling them ahead of time so that they send on the first of each month. The reason I suggest this over a flow is because profiles will enter the flow at different times depending on when they sign up. And currently there is no way to set up a time delay in a flow that sends on a specific day of the month. 

If you do this through campaigns, you can send to the same Newsletter list each month, and this list will capture all new subscribers as well!

Thanks for your question in the community. 

Yes you could do this in flows. 

You could set up a flow that triggers your April email to be sent to everyone who has:

 

  • HAS subscribed in April
  • HAS received your welcome flow in April
  • HAS NOT received your April Campaign email.

    You would need to update this every month with the new month creative, but this should work.

Thank you for your response. That all makes sense.

How would I then set up a normal flow for the rest of the monthly emails for everyone in that newsletter Audience?

I guess what I’m trying to get at, is I would love to be able to build out a flow where I could create a bunch of these monthly newsletters ahead of time to be sent out on the 1st of every month for the correct month’s email without everyone in that audience seeing older newsletters that would be irrelevant to the season.
