Question

Onsite tracking for Shopify - viewed product, viewed collection, etc.

Hi,

We have some events being measured by Shopify (Shopify icon in the metrics overview), but the following are tracked by Klaviyo via a snippet installed (gear icon in the metrics overview):

  • Active on Site
  • Added to Cart
  • Viewed Product
  • Viewed Collection

I only recently found out there is now a possibility to set up all of these via the ‘Track Behavioral events’ setting in the Shopify Integrations tab, to ensure they will be tracked by Shopify.

Would you recommend to move to Shopify tracking, and why yes/no?

thanks!

Hi Amsterdam Meet up Community members!

I hope you're all doing well. Here's something I'd love your opinion about:

Hi @Femy ! Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

Here are a few of the reasons we recommend switching to the Shopify server side events (Added to Cart, Viewed Collection, Submitted Search):

  • Continued Maintenance: Klaviyo can maintain and add future enhancements to this metric directly.
  • Enriched metadata: Additional data like the quantity of items added, variant that was added, and link to the variant added is in the top level of these events to be used in segments and flows.
  • Easy to set up: For new customers, it's on by default. For existing customers, it takes just a few clicks to install (no copying and pasting code).
  • More events: Syncing events server side should result in additional events
  • Shoppers identity can persist for longer (one year server side): Every time the identity is identified within that year period, the profile will persist for one year from that point.

I hope this helps! :)
