Why do we have clicks with no opens?

This happens because open tracking relies on a tiny image (tracking pixel) loading in the email, while click tracking works through URL redirects. If images are blocked or not loaded (some people read emails without enabling images), the open won’t register, even if they click a link.
Also, plain text emails don’t have tracking pixels, so they’ll never show as opened but can still track clicks.
There are also many other factors like privacy and security software that might mess with open tracking but doesn’t affect clicks.

Hey there @neil_v,

Lenin Batista had a great answer, and I wanted to add on to it. In your email tracking settings, you can edit the location of the tracking pixel, the pixel that needs to load in order for an open to be tracked. By default, this pixel is at the bottom of the email. As a result, long emails that may have been clipped, or simply took to long to load, may have not loaded the tracking pixel before a click occurred. Moving the tracking pixel to the top of the email ensures accurate tracking, in cases where you’re sending a longer email that may get clipped.

In short, this may have happened if your tracking pixel was on the bottom, and people were clicking the email before that pixel loaded. You can read more about how/why to change the location of your tracking pixel here: https://www.klaviyo.com/settings/email/attribution.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help out with!
