Member spotlight: 2 list-growth tactics that prioritize quality over volume

In our first conversation in the BFCM Strategy Exchange, community members shared advice and chatted about list growth ahead of peak-send season. As part of the series, I am spotlighting the top contributions in the threads. First round goes to @marika-t 🌟Two of my favourite list growth tactics right now are built for lead quality over volume, so they might not bring in the biggest numbers, but the subscribers you get tend to be more engaged.1. An SMS pop-up for people already on your email listSet up a pop-up that only shows to email subscribers who haven't opted in to SMS yet. You can do this by targeting the form to people in a segment of email subscribers who aren't SMS subscribers. Inboxes get really crowded in Q4, so building your SMS list before BFCM gives you a second way to reach people when it matters most.If you add a small incentive for opting in, it can also bring in an extra order: you get a purchase now, plus a new SMS subscriber you can reach through peak season.2. Where does SMS earn a spot in your BFCM strategy?

SMS can be one of the highest-impact channels during BFCM, but that doesn’t mean every moment needs a text. The real question is where SMS adds something email can’t.For some teams, that might mean:Giving VIPs or high-intent shoppers early access Sending time-sensitive reminders when a promotion is about to end Following up with cart or browse abandoners Using SMS for a smaller set of high-priority moments instead of matching every email send Saving the channel for customers who are most likely to actAnd then there are the harder decisions: How often is too often? Which offers are worth an SMS send? Who should get both email and SMS and who shouldn’t?So, heading into BFCM:What role will SMS play in your strategy this year, and what are you still deciding?Share what you’ve already committed to, what you’re testing, or the question your team is still debating. 👇For more BFCM prep, check-out the official Klaviyo BFCM hub.

Community Spotlight: Moms in marketing

Read lessons and advice from customers and partners in the Klaviyo Community about how motherhood has influenced and inspired their careers in ecommerce marketing. For so many people working in ecomm and marketing, “Mother’s Day campaign” is a line item on a calendar. But behind every brief, every flow, and every launch are real people juggling Slack notifications with school runs, strategy decks with bedtime stories, and QBRs with sick days. This year, we asked a few moms in the Klaviyo Community to share how motherhood has changed the way they work and what they’d say to other moms in the industry. What came back wasn’t just cute kid photos (though there are plenty). It was a masterclass in focus, empathy, boundaries, and what it means to build a career you’re proud of and a life your kids can see themselves in.“How has being a mom inspired your work?”Time is no longer theoretical. It’s the strategy. For several of the women who shared their stories, motherhood turned time from an abstr

What's something you'd tell someone who wants to get more out of Klaviyo integrations and APIs?

What's something you'd tell someone who wants to get more out of Klaviyo integrations and APIs?

Not the "read the docs" answer, but the thing you actually had to learn. We have 350+ integrations in the catalog and most people set up the ones they need and move on. But there's usually a layer underneath that takes a little more digging like the event that's worth passing through, the property mapping that unlocks better segmentation, the integration pairing you didn't realize was possible until someone showed you.So I'm putting it to the community: what's your #1 tip?It could be:A specific integration you're getting unexpected value from A custom event or property you'd tell every brand to set up A way you're combining two integrations that most people don't think to connect Something in the API catalog that flies under the radarDrop it below and let's build the list!

What's an A/B test your ran where the results surprised you?

What's an A/B test your ran where the results surprised you?

One of my favorite parts of marketing is when an A/B test completely humbles your assumptions 😅The version you were sure would win loses badly. The “safe” option somehow crushes the creative one. The tiny tweak ends up outperforming the full redesign.Anyone else have a moment like this recently or one that has stuck with them since it happened? What’s an A/B test you ran where the results genuinely surprised you? Could be email, SMS, landing pages, timing, subject lines or anything else. Also, if you’re new to A/B tests or want to strengthen how you run them in Klaviyo, I highly recommend this new training from the Academy team.

Is email marketing harder in 2026?

Is email marketing harder in 2026?

I've been hearing and reading this line of thinking a lot and I wanted to open up a real conversation about what's changed, what's noise, and what's actually worth doing differently. Keep reading to get my take and then let me know your thoughts.TL;DR – some things are genuinely harder. But the fundamentals that drive email success haven't changed. The brands winning right now are the ones who cleaned up their lists, tightened their segments, and stopped treating "delivered" as the finish line. What's genuinely more difficult nowThree things legitimately shifted in the past 18 months.Inbox providers are enforcing stricter standards. Gmail and Yahoo now require proper authentication for bulk senders, so SPF, DKIM, and DMARC alignment are mandatory, not optional. One-click unsubscribe is required for marketing emails. Google's sender guidelines FAQ details current enforcement, and Microsoft Outlook followed with its own requirements in May 2025. If your bounce rate climbs above 3% or comp

What’s one thing you’ve handed off to AI that you’d never want to go back to doing manually?

Has anyone else seen the OpenAI commercial with the generation of farmers? I saw it for the first time recently and actually thought it was pretty good at showing how a career that has lasted centuries can live on with the help of AI. Also a career that I never imagined using AI. Basically, the manual work of documenting, planning, and problem solving is done by AI for a family of farmers. Here’s the link if you want to watch.Anyway, no matter when you started your career, there’s always been something that used to take way more effort than it does now. Manually pulling lists, writing and rewriting, starting from a blank page every single time, etc.At the time, it was just part of the job/task. Then a new innovation comes along and suddenly that thing gets a whole lot easier and the nature of your work also seems to be different and maybe your not quite sure how to feel?I think we can all agree AI is one of the biggest shifts to date. Most of us are still learning and adjusting to it,
