Still pretty new to this platform so want to make sure I am taking the correct steps for personalization.

Has anyone used custom properties to personalize the “from” name and reply-to address for an email campaign? For example, if you wanted to send an email coming “from” a recipients assigned contact and personalize the reply-to with their email address so they get the responses. We’ve done this with our previous email provider so mostly curious if it would be the same steps.

Hi @lizlegatt !

Firstly, how are Klaviyo profiles being assigned a contact? Is it randomly done?

My thinking is, if it’s randomly done you could:

  • Have a flow that based on the contact criteria (e.g. when they are added to a segment or meet the conditions you need for them to be assigned a contact) you could have a conditional split that randomly divides people into groups (e.g. 20% of people get assigned to Bob, 20% Jill, 20% Catherine etc). Then, dependant on the group they get assigned to, you could ‘update profile property details’ with the custom property of ‘contact owner’ (e.g. if they are in Bob’s group the custom property of ‘contact owner’ gets updated to Bob).
  • Then, in other flows, you could have conditional splits that sends different variations of emails dependant on contact owner - e.g. if they have Bob as their contact owner, they’d receive the email variation with Bob’s reply-to email address.

Let me know if this helps 😀

Hey @MeganWorboys - Thanks for responding! They are pre-assigned to AM portfolios in our CRM.

Hey @lizlegatt! Ah ok - does your CRM sync with Klaviyo? I’m presuming that’s how contact profiles are added to Klaviyo? You should be able to look to see if you can sync that property from your CRM to a new custom property in Klaviyo - and then you can do what I mentioned above about having conditional splits in email flows dependant on contact owner.

Let me know if that helps!
