Hi everyone, Gil here. Excited to introduce myself.

I’m located in Boston and lead product for Composer at Klaviyo. More broadly, I spend my time thinking about how AI should show up across the whole platform.

Composer is our AI marketing assistant: it helps you build campaigns, audit your marketing program, and turn your own account data and brand into better-performing marketing, with you staying in control the whole way. I'll be here to talk all things Composer: what we're building, what's coming next, but mostly I want to listen and answer any questions I can.

A few questions to kick things off:

  • How are you using AI in your marketing today?
  • Where does Composer speed you up, and where does it still slow you down?
  • Where do you wish AI (not specifically Composer) would help you with your marketing?

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Hey Gil, I’m Josh I run retention for CRAFTD a leading men’s jewellery brand based in the UK. We have 3 x Klaviyo accounts across the US, UK and EU,  I’ve been attempting to use Composer as frequently as possible as we’re a pretty lean team and are increasingly leveraging AI throughout our tech stack.

Being totally transparent as a mature team, we haven't yet found a really impactful use case for the Composer beta in its current state and what’s available that has really helped us save time in our day-to-day tasks over what we could do ourselves, or what we could do with our existing AI integrations.

Where I believe Composer could add genuine value for us specifically is being able to delve deeper into the data and reporting side. The most useful thing for us would be the ability to really interrogate our own account data and other integrated data sources (Shopify etc). Pulling performance breakdowns, surfacing trends, answering questions about segments, flows, revenue attribution and subscriber sources quickly, without needing to build reports manually or export to other tools or the need to sense check everything vs other sources of truth due to inaccuracies. Separately a really useful feature we’d like to see is the ability for Composer to schedule updates/reports on a daily, weekly, monthly basis with comparisons.

I could also be worth splitting composer into generative features (probably more useful for smaller teams / brands) whereas more mature marketers would probably want to prioritise data-and-reporting-led functionality, accompanied by fast, accurate answers about what's happening in the account. That's the capability that would actually change how we use the platform and something that would save us time

I’d be happy to run through some of the questions we’ve posed to Composer as a lot have been unable to be answered...LTV/Frequency questions, UTM Tracking in automations, Email/SMS usage and billing (ROI) Q’s etc.

Also on a final note our highest-performing emails tend to be intentionally simple, plain-text, human-toned sends and it feels like Composer still doesn’t have this nuance down yet.

Cheers,
Josh :)
