What I'm trying to achieve

I'd like to suggest a new option for Flow emails when using Skip Recently Emailed Marketing Profiles.

Today, when a profile enters a flow and has received a recent marketing email, Klaviyo can skip that profile entirely. While this helps reduce email fatigue, it can also result in missed conversion opportunities for important flows such as:

  • Abandoned Cart
  • Abandoned Checkout
  • Browse Abandonment
  • Back in Stock
  • Cross-Sell
  • Winback

In many cases, I don't want the profile to be skipped permanently. I simply want the email to be delayed until the profile becomes eligible again.

Current behavior

Example:

  • A customer receives a campaign at 9:00 AM.
  • The same customer abandons a cart at 2:00 PM.
  • The Abandoned Cart flow email is configured with "Skip Recently Emailed Marketing Profiles".

Result:

  • The flow email is skipped permanently.
  • The customer never receives the abandoned cart reminder.

Desired behavior

Instead of:

Profile enters flow → Recently emailed → Skip

I would like an option such as:

Profile enters flow → Recently emailed → Wait until eligible → Send

For example:

  • Customer received a marketing email 10 hours ago.
  • Flow email requires a 24-hour cooling period.
  • Klaviyo automatically waits another 14 hours.
  • The flow email is then sent.

Why this would be valuable

This would allow brands to:

  • Maintain healthy sending frequency.
  • Reduce email fatigue.
  • Preserve high-intent flow conversions.
  • Avoid losing revenue from critical automated flows.

Many ecommerce brands prioritize flow emails over campaigns because they are behavior-driven and often generate significantly higher conversion rates.

What I've tried

I've explored workarounds using:

  • Conditional Splits based on "Received Email in the last X days"
  • Additional Delay blocks
  • Smart Sending strategies

While these solutions can partially address the issue, they don't dynamically wait until a profile becomes eligible. They either introduce fixed delays or require complex flow logic.

Suggested feature

Add a new option alongside "Skip Recently Emailed Marketing Profiles":

  • Skip profile (current behavior)
  • Delay until eligible (new behavior)

This would provide much more flexibility for flow orchestration while still respecting email frequency controls.

I'm curious whether other Klaviyo users have encountered the same challenge and how they're currently handling it.
