Hi There,

I haven’t found answers that address this in the new editor but bullets have way too much space before them, which separates the bullets from the text above.

This obviously creates a disjointed reading experience…

How to we apply normal paragraph spacing to bullets and remove the space above the bullets?

Cheers, Ben

Hi @Ben ,

Thank you for sharing the query in the community!

Have you tried reducing the line spacing? Adjusting the line spacing will not only reduce the space between the bullets but also decrease the gap between the bullets and the surrounding paragraphs.

You can find the Line Spacing option in the Style tab, before the Currency section.

Let us know how it goes or if you have any other questions. We’re here to help!

Thanks for the reply @DishaM13,

Changing the spacing on everything won’t change the relative spacing between paragraphs and bullets though.

HTML renderers usually collapse double spacing to make things look even. But it appears Klaviyo uses padding on paragraph bottoms and margin on bullet tops…

The green at the end of the paragraph is padding. But the orange on top if the bullets is margin so the space doesn’t collapse. My understanding is that using a mix breaks the collapse function?

This isn’t just a fluffy design/layout issue, it affects readability. Consider the following image…

Notice how the spacing on the right properly groups headlines and bullets with copy? Everyone tends to use extra returns before headlines to fix headline spacing issues but in the case of these bullets, there doesn’t seem to be a work around?

If so, it seems this is something for the dev team.

Would it be possible to pass along to them as a feature request?

Cheers, Ben

Hi @Ben ,

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

You’re right that changing the spacing settings universally might not resolve the issue with the relative spacing between paragraphs and bullets. It’s clear that the mix of padding and margin is affecting how the spacing is rendered and collapsing, impacting readability.

I’m assuming that reducing the top and bottom padding sizes in individual text areas has not resolved the issue, correct? If that’s the case, then sharing this as feedback to the klaviyo support team might be more helpful, as it will allow the concerned team to explore potential solutions and improvements to handle this issue effectively.

Thanks again, all the text in the example is in one text block. If it could be passed along that would be great. Cheers, Ben

@DishaM13

One final note. Because headlines and bullets use margin spacing, space between bullets and headlines collapse correctly.

Consider the following where bullets follow a headline, the space collapses (orange is margin spacing)…

But because paragraphs use padding instead of margin spacing, their space doesn’t collapse and so appears double-spaced.

Hope that helps the dev team and that it’s a quick and easy fix.

Cheers, Ben

I’m having this same issue too, and haven’t found a solution. Wondering if there’s an update?

I have had this problem for years. In the old editor, I used to be able to adjust the code to get rid of the extra line, but it didn’t always work. I have contacted Klaviyo support to ask how to do this, and they it’s exactly as it should be! It’s really frustrating that this hasn’t been fixed after all these years, without even an admission that it needs improvement. It really looks bad in my emails.
