Hi,

Unfortunately (and quite frustrating) you can only setup 1 BSD. Previous solutions was to have a second Klaviyo account (with is not what you want right? double the work for settings / user management etc..). but with Shopify Markets you cannot do this.

We have a dedicated Dutch and French domain. Shopify Markets is out quite some time now. When is Klaviyo gonna make the necessary adjustments?

Right now there is only a solutions to create some overall domain, what is not feasible with us.

Hi @Remco

Thank you for posting in the Community!

I completely understand your frustration regarding Klaviyo’s limitation of supporting only one branded sending domain (BSD) per account, especially when managing multiple domains with Shopify Markets.

Here’s a summary of the current situation and potential workarounds:

Current challenges:

  1. Single BSD per account: Klaviyo currently allows only one BSD per account, which poses challenges for businesses with multiple domains for different markets (e.g., Dutch and French domains).
  2. Overall domain as a solution: As you mentioned, creating an "overall domain" isn't feasible in many cases due to branding, localization, and market-specific needs.

Workaround options:

  1. Leverage subdomains:

    • Use subdomains for each market under the same BSD (e.g., nl.yourdomain.com and fr.yourdomain.com).
    • While this doesn't address full separation, it allows for some level of market-specific branding.
    • You may need to use dynamic content and segmentation in Klaviyo to ensure emails reflect the correct market-specific details.
  2. Custom segmentation and personalization:

    • Target users based on Shopify Market tags or geo-location.
    • Personalize email content dynamically by pulling in the appropriate market-specific details (e.g., currency, language, offers).

Hope that helps! :-)

Hi @Christiannoerbjerg,

Yes, basically there is no solution right now. And with Shopify Markets the number of Klaviyo customers that come in this situation is growing. Subdomains are not the solutions either because the domain name is totally different (translated from Dutch to French). Branding inside Klaviyo is not the problem, it is about trust. If I buy something from french.nl and i get an email from fr.dutch.nl is odd right? I don’t even recognize the domain in this case.

As I stated before, in my opinion this could be classified as a bug because the is no solution for this right now. Are the good reasons not not allow multiple BSD’s?

Hi @Remco

You're absolutely right—this is a growing issue, especially with the expansion of Shopify Markets and the increasing need for localized experiences.

I would still recommend to segment your subscribers out and use subdomains for your sending adresses.

Hi,

I understand your frustration regarding the current limitation of setting up only one BSD (Brand Sending Domain) in Klaviyo, especially when managing multiple Shopify Markets with dedicated Dutch and French domains.

As of now, Klaviyo doesn’t support multiple BSDs within a single account, which can indeed make managing localized campaigns challenging. While creating a general domain may not align with your needs, here are some potential workarounds to consider:

1. Segmentation-Based Customization

Leverage Klaviyo’s robust segmentation tools to create audience groups based on language preferences or markets.

Customize email templates using dynamic content blocks to display localized language and content for Dutch and French audiences.

2. Subdomain Workaround

Instead of creating a completely new BSD, you can consider using subdomains (e.g., nl.yourdomain.com for Dutch and fr.yourdomain.com for French). Although this won’t fully replicate a second BSD, it could help maintain some level of localization.

3. Shopify Markets Integration

Optimize Shopify Markets settings to tag and identify users by their market during data sync with Klaviyo. Use this tagging to create market-specific campaigns within the same Klaviyo account.

4. Engage Klaviyo Support

Reach out to Klaviyo’s product team or submit a feature request highlighting your specific use case. The more demand they see for such a feature, the higher the likelihood of prioritizing the update.

Long-Term Recommendations

If these workarounds don’t align with your operational needs, consider using a third-party tool for localized email domains while maintaining centralized campaign management through Klaviyo.

While I understand this isn’t the seamless solution you’re seeking, I hope these suggestions provide some clarity and direction until Klaviyo implements multi-BSD support.

Hello @Remco,

I understand the frustration with the limitation of setting up only one Brand Store Domain (BSD) in Klaviyo, especially when managing multiple domains for different markets, like Dutch and French.

Currently, Klaviyo doesn’t offer a built-in solution to handle multiple BSDs for Shopify Markets, and as you mentioned, using a second Klaviyo account is not ideal due to the extra work it involves.

What can be done now?

  • Single BSD Approach: As you've noted, using a single BSD for all domains is the only immediate workaround, but this doesn't meet your needs for separating your Dutch and French domains.

  • Custom Solutions: One possible solution is to use dynamic content in your Klaviyo emails, which can adjust based on the recipient's region or language. This way, you can target specific markets with tailored content, even if the BSD is shared.

Klaviyo’s Plans:

  • As of now, there has been no official announcement from Klaviyo regarding multiple BSD support for Shopify Markets. I recommend reaching out to Klaviyo support or your account manager to ask for an update on future plans for this feature.

Unfortunately, this might require some patience until they address this in a future update.

Let me know if you need further help.

Best Regards,

Peace.

Hi @Amos Peace thank you for your replay. But as stated. The content is not the problem. It is the fact that you get an email from a totally different domain.

Hi @MANSIR2094 thank you for your replay. As stated, there is no solution, not even a second Klaviyo because of Shopify Markets. This is something that needs to be addressed.

Hi @Remco

Did you get this solved? :-)

@Christiannoerbjerg if you refer to the sub domains then yeah this is not the problem, segmentation is also covered, flows also. But the main problem: trust for the customer is still not solved. Klaviyo needs to make the proper adjustments to there product to keep it in sync with Shopify.

Hi @Remco

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback regarding how the option to have multiple Branded Sending Domains would build trust in your customers who shop on different domains. As other contributors mentioned, I can confirm that we don’t currently support multiple Branded Sending Domains at once. However, I agree that this would be a really useful feature, and I have submitted it as a proposal for our product team to consider implementing in the future. If you don’t mind elaborating, we would love to hear more about how you’d like to use this feature!

Thanks, and have a great rest of your week.

Hi @Byrne C

Thank you for your message. I think the usecases are the same as with the subdomain but maybe this can go even further in a v2.0. As mentioned multiple times before. The issue is not segmentation and all that stuff. We tag them and we tag the orders as well in Shopify.

Two thinks that are crucial:

  1. The customer knows where the email is coming from.
  2. Reply back it goes to the right department (French instead of Dutch).

Bare minimum:

  • Set the sending domain in the sending settings from the email

Other options:

  • In the email itself the ability to create multiple language versions to that there is no split like `if local = FR then...` 1 flow with the same logic.
  • Maybe connect a sending domain to a language in general settings? This way it is forced in the email itself.
  • Set a sending domain in flow settings instead of in every email.

Hi @Remco,

Thank you so much for your question. I see @Byrne C from Klaviyo has already shared this feedback with the product team.

One thing I thought would be worth flagging - you are able on an email by email basis either in flow or campaigns to set a “reply-to” email address. This would at least resolve the issue you mentioned about the right department.

An example of this in a post-purchase email would be (presumably you have this set up like this now?):

When you click on the email in the flow and go to Subject and sender → Edit Sender, you can edit the reply to email address for the specific email:

Hope that helps at least with part of the challenge you have. I know it’s not a perfect solution and I’d love to see better support for Shopify Markets. The innovation on Shopify markets has been very solid in recent years, though we most often still end up creating a separate storefront (if using Shopify Plus) for the specific end market for a lot of our clients.

Thanks
David
