I checked the klaviyo onsite tracking, it is working. it is tracking all events except for added to cart metric. i tried a lot but can't get that metric. when i try creating a cart abandoned flow it says “We have not received any recent Added to Cart events.” How do i get the metric?

do we need to set the code snippet in shopify custom liquid? If yes, then where is the code? if we still need the code then why did klaviyo removed the snippet code from every page of their site? why are they not giving us code? can anybody provide me the code and guide me how to install it properly in shopify?
Thanks.

Hey @suyogp

The easiest way to test this is to cookie yourself, so I would recommend to make sure that the email you are testing from is already a subscriber or go to the website by clicking on any of the emails sent out from klaviyo. another way to do this is to manually cookie yourself by using the UTM parameter. go to your website url.Add this to your url

?utm_email=youremail@example.com. Make sure to replace youremail@example.com

press enter to load the page with the new URL. Your browser should now be "cookied" with that email address. try to add to cart any of your products, which will hopefully trigger your added to cart metric.

if you are still not able to trigger the metric, you can try to add the code snippet, but app embed is the newest and easiest way to enable Klaviyo onsite tracking for Shopify. All Shopify users, including those who integrated Klaviyo with Shopify before the release, are encouraged to enable it. The app embed is available to both Shopify stores on vintage themes, and stores on Shopify 2.0 themes.

Since you already mentioned that you already have the klaviyo onsite tracking enabled, you can try to add the manual snippet, however Klaviyo has now updated their documentation and removed that code snippet. This was the article which has now been updated and no longer shows the code. I found an old article where someone had mentioned it. here it is

I hope this helps but I would suggest reaching out to klaviyo’s live chat support so that they can help you further take a look into this, and thank you for sharing your question here in the community.

Cheers

Arpit

Hey @suyogp,

The reason you’re not seeing the Added to Cart snippet in the articles is because we’ve actually migrated to a new server-side Added to Cart event, managed by Shopify. This article here explains how to migrate to this new Added to Cart event.

We changed from a code snippet to this new event for ease of use - the new added to cart event should work on nearly every Shopify theme, and doesn’t require editing your store’s code to implement. Let me know if you have any questions setting this up. Happy to help more!
