• What are you most passionate about? Travel, live music, and staying active.
• Where do you work and what is your role? I am a flight attendant full time for a major US airline and the owner of an e-commerce headband/headwear company www.heavyheadco.com 
• What’s one thing you love most about your company? Full time gig - I love flying everywhere! My company - I love the nonstop learning, which brought me to Klaviyo after learning the importance of e-mail marketing. I look forward to what I can learn from this group!!

I also love to travel and live music (I perform with the Las Vegas Men’s Chorus and learning to play the cello). I just came back from Italy this past week and i just have to say, thank you for all you do as part of the flight crew. It’s been a crazy year and I commend you for being able to do what you do AND run an online business! Very excited to collaborate with you as you ramp up your digital marketing with Klaviyo! Always know that you can come to the Community anytime to search for answers as well as ask questions that you can’t seem to find to correct information for. Hello All, 

My name is Alan Simpson, I am a partner at the Elite Brands agency & responsible for all agency messaging & design. I have been working in email marketing since the early 2000s & am always keen to share a story about the crazy old days.

I come from a copywriting background, but have always worked closely with design teams. I design & write all our client’s emails (We like to say that my partner does the plumbing, I hang the wallpaper).

I am a complete language geek, a total marketing weirdo. If the names Howard Gossage, Ernest Schwartz & Phillip Kotler mean anything to you then there’s a shared drink in our future.

I have worked for NGOs, Fortune 500s & just about everything in between. Email was always a solid component of a sometimes turbulent space. When I lived in the Netherlands I was an eCommerce Content Specialist at TomTom and the Senior Copywriter at Booking.com. I have worked with MTV, Comedy Central, Oxfam Novib, Amnesty International as well as a lot of smaller companies as well.

At the end of the day, the work is the same: Getting the right message to the right person in the right place at the right time. Delivering relevance.

As Gossage said “People don’t read ads, they read what interests them. Sometimes it’s an ad”.

Automated behaviourally-predictive targeted emails would have blown his socks right off.

I spend roughly 6 hours a day in the Klaviyo editor, not because I have to, but because I’m a geek remember - I’m like a kid with a new toy. Back in the 90s when I started in marketing, & in the 2000s when I began in email we could only have dreamed of a tool like Klaviyo. Now we get to drive the thing - its amazing.
