Beginner looking for free help creating my first Klaviyo flow

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Klaviyo and want to learn how to create an abandoned cart flow. I’ve created a draft called “Custom Abandoned Cart,” but I’m not sure how to set up the trigger, filters, delays, and emails.

I can’t afford paid training right now. Could anyone recommend a free beginner tutorial, a recorded walkthrough, or an upcoming free training session? I’d also appreciate someone explaining the first few steps.

I want to learn how to build it myself, not have someone do everything for me.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Yusuf, have a look at the flow library within klaviyo and choose that as a starting point. Then you dont have to worry about triggers and delays.

Hi @Yusuf Kolapo , welcome to the klaviyo community!

You are on the right track by creating custom abandoned cart flow. I would love to guide you through the set up so you can understand how everything works and build it yourself.
To get started, you will need to:

1, Set the trigger: choose the added to cart metric if you want to trigger the flow when someone adds a product to their cart, or use checkout started for a checkout abandonment flow, depending on your store integration and setup.

2. Add filters: Exclude people who have already placed an order since entering the flow

3. Set a time delay: Give the customer some time to complete their purchase before sending the first email

4. Create your email: Remind them about the product they left behind and include a clear link back to their cart or checkout.

I would be happy to explain the steps in more details here or we could arrange a short call if that would make learning easier for you.

Which e-commerce platform are you using? Shopify, Woocommerce, or something else? That will help me guide you through the correct setup

Got you! 🙌 Since you're just starting and want to offer this as a service, I'd recommend learning the fundamentals first, then practising by building a sample abandoned cart flow.

You don't necessarily need a live store to start learning the flow setup, although some features require the appropriate integration and event data to test properly.

I'd be happy to guide you through the process step by step, explain the triggers, filters, delays, and email setup, and help you understand the logic behind each decision so you can confidently build it yourself.

Let's start with the basics: have you created your Klaviyo account and explored the Flows section yet? 😊
