Hi, I’m looking into using the Geofence feature for our email marketing. I’ve successfully set up a Geofence, but when I go to create a segment based on an event of entering a Geofence location, I have no idea what to select.

There’s the option of ‘proximity to a location’ etc, but if this feature is available without Geofences, I don’t entirely understand the purpose of them. From what I can gather they’re dynamic so users entering and leaving can therefore enter and leave a segment. This webpage doesn’t detail the actual segment setup: https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/45194892526747

Any guidance on setting this up would be great! Thanks :)

Hi @madelineracher,

Once identified profiles start entering and exiting your geofence, you’ll begin to record “Entered geofence”  and “Exited geofence” events. You’ll then be able to create segments based on What someone has or hasn’t done, and you’d select these events from the dropdown.

Entered and Exited geofence contain the data:

  • Geofence name
  • Latitude and longitude
  • Radius

So you can filter for specific geofence, or for specific locations or radius. Let me know if this answers your question!

Hi madelineracher,

just checking if you have sorted this?

As far as I understand, the Geofence feature is available only for mobile apps, so you need to have an app installed. When users enter or leave defined areas, you can trigger messages based on the actions you set up.
