Though I have never encountered this specific scenario in the past, I think it is always best to err on the side of caution. I would recommend following the steps provided in the Help Center article you linked in your original query. Though, it does appear that the details you pasted here are consistent with the Static routing option that uses CNAME records, as shown below:
