Troubleshooting guidance for when your flow isn’t triggering.
This is one of those issues that can mean a few different things.
The most common causes are:
- the flow is connected to the wrong trigger, list, or segment
- no new qualifying people or events are actually entering that trigger source
- flow filters or re-entry settings are excluding the profile
- the message is set to Draft or Manual instead of Live
One sneaky gotcha: sometimes a profile does enter the flow, but gets skipped later. Profile filters are checked when someone enters and then checked again before each send, so a flow can look like it “didn’t trigger” when it actually triggered but the person no longer qualified by the time the email was supposed to go out.
A few other things worth checking:
- if this is a list- or segment-triggered flow, the person usually needs to be newly added or newly qualify to enter
- adding someone through the “Add to list” option on a profile page will not trigger the flow the same way; Quick Add from the list itself will
- Mailchimp-synced lists can’t be used to trigger flows
- if you’re using a signup form, make sure it’s published and tied to the same list as the flow
The fastest built-in check is the trigger preview tool. It can show whether a real profile would enter the flow, whether they pass the filters, and whether re-entry is blocking them.
If you’ve already checked the trigger, filters, flow status, and preview and it still looks wrong, ask a question in the community or contact support.
If you post in the community, share what kind of flow it is — welcome, abandoned checkout, post-purchase, segment-based, etc. — and the crew in the forum can help narrow down the most likely cause from there.
