What marketing trend or industry moment has your attention right now?

Hey Community! Peer pulse question of the week coming in hot:

BFCM and AI are taking up a lot of space in marketing conversations right now, but what else are you paying attention to? And what are your thoughts?

Maybe it’s a new consumer behavior, brand move, channel shift, campaign format, product trend, or industry debate.

For example, I recently spoke with a Champion about multiple beauty brands creating the same product because they were working with the same manufacturer. Rather than treating that as a problem, the brands intentionally leaned into the shared product as a trend, but this Champion felt that their company jumping on the bandwagon wouldn't represent their brand.

Share below: What marketing moment or trend has caught your attention lately? What do you find interesting about it, and do you think it will have a lasting impact?

Share an example, observation, or link if you have one. I’m curious what everyone is noticing beyond BFCM and AI.

Braze being acquired by Salesforce has the most of my attention today, that’s really bombshell news when it comes to Klaviyo’s competitive landscape. Super excited (and slightly worried) about what’s to come in 2027 in terms of M&A globally!

I'm fascinated by how much of what we call "retention marketing success" is actually just capturing demand that already existed. We celebrate attributed revenue, but how much of it is truly incremental? Would those customers have purchased or renewed anyway?

I also think it's time to shift more of our attention toward UI/UX and the customer experience itself. Instead of constantly finding new ways to convince customers to stay, why not invest more in making the experience so intuitive, seamless, and valuable that they naturally want to?

Better experimentation, holdout groups, and a stronger focus on customer experience over communication volume. Sometimes the best retention strategy isn't another email or incentive. It's removing the friction that made the customer consider leaving in the first place.

Great take and I love your approach! I think, especially coming to this from an agency perspective, things become too much about revenue generated and profit, and not enough about genuine brand-building and customer experience. That’s why one of my rules for my team is, each email needs to have a clear purpose. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t get sent out.
