We have back in stock notifications set up with our Shopify store but we have multiple store locations where inventory is tracked.

We have an Online store (where online orders are fulfilled) and many retail stores where inventory is separated for retail.

I noticed that when we marked a product in stock at our retail location, or just simply transfer stock between retail locations, (that isn’t restocked at our online location) a customer was alerted. (They went to the product page and it was still listed as sold out).

Is there a way I can only alert people when something is restocked at our online store location?

At this time, Klaviyo’s native back in stock functionality for Shopify does not distinguish between inventory at different store locations. It looks at the total available inventory for a product variant across all Shopify locations, so if stock is added at a retail location, that can trigger a back in stock notification even if your online fulfillment location is still out of stock.

Because of that, there isn’t currently a setting to send notifications only when inventory is restocked at your online store location.

As a workaround, you can adjust your back in stock settings to require a higher minimum inventory threshold before notifications are sent. Depending on how your inventory is managed, this may help reduce alerts caused by small stock changes at retail locations.

I realize that’s not the ideal behavior for your setup, but I appreciate you calling it out. If location-specific back in stock alerts are essential, this would require a custom solution rather than Klaviyo’s standard Shopify back in stock setup.
