Basic API question - passing variable

Can someone please help, I am stuck. It may be something very basic as I am new to all this

So looking at this example:

?filter=and(equals(first_name,"Jane"),equals(email,"jane@klaviyo-demo.com"))

So instead of “Jane” and "jane@klaviyo-demo.com", I want to pass on a Variable, so how do I do that - syntax wise.

My goal is to to search profiles and get the profile based on email and name.

Would you be able to provide a little more information about the context for this use case? For example - where are you creating this variable? In your system, in Klaviyo, or somewhere else? Where (or what platform) are you trying to search in?
