Hi Community,

We're currently setting up the in-email review collection feature and would love some clarification.

Is it possible for customers to upload a photo along with their review directly within the email (using the in-email review form)?

I’ve read that in-email reviews rely on the element, which isn’t supported by all inbox providers — and that custom questions aren’t supported for in-email collection. But I couldn’t find a clear answer on whether photo uploads are supported directly in the email or not.

Any insight or experience with this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Kim

Hi @Kimmy42

You are right to question that, photo uploads aren't supported directly in in-email review forms. Email clients block file upload Fields for security reasons. So customers can't attach images within the email itself.  But if you would like to collect photos, the best approach is to let customers leave a basic review on the email like star rating or short text then guide them to a review page where they can upload photos

Hope that helps!

Hi @Kimmy42 — great question!

You’re absolutely right to double-check this. Unfortunately, image uploads are not supported directly within in-email review forms, primarily due to security limitations with email clients. Most inbox providers block file attachments or uploads inside the email environment.

Recommended Workaround:

If you want to collect customer photos alongside reviews, here’s an effective approach:

  1. Collect a quick star rating or short review directly in the email.
  2. Redirect them to a hosted review landing page (e.g., via your review platform or site) where they can optionally upload images.

This two-step process keeps friction low while still enabling richer UGC like photos. Many brands use platforms like Klaviyo Reviews or Stamped.io, Okendo, or Loox, which integrate well with Klaviyo and offer this kind of flow.
