Using profile properties to exclude profiles from newsletter - Email preference page optin

Question

Hi there,I have recently update our e-mail preference page where people can check what time of emails they would like to receive, for example ‘Deals’, ‘Product launch’, ‘Blogs’ and ‘Informative’. They can select several email types. Now i am strugglin on how i can use the profile's preference to exclude people from certain list.For example:Costumer A has opted in the following email preferences and wants to receive deals and blogs:- "Deals"- "Blogs"Costumer B has opted in the following email preferences and only want to receive blogs:- "Blogs"If i create a segment:- Segment A - email preference Blogs: profile property email preference -> contains --> "Blogs", this segment will add both customer A and customer B to this segment. So if I want to send an newsletter with a deal/promotion, in the campaign setting I will add Segment A (email preference blogs) to the 'Don't send to' option:[image screenshot]However, in this case customer A and customer B will both be excluded but i only want to exclude customer B, because customer A still wants to receive both Deals and Blog newsletters.How can I properly set this up?

Hi @RobertjtThank you for posting your question in the community!What I would recommend is creating a different segment for each preference.Segment 1: DealsSegment 2: Product LaunchSegment 3: BlogsSegment 4: InformativeHow you assign these to different types of campaigns will come down to testing.Since you just created the different segments via the pref center, I would include both the Blog and Deal segments, and then after the campaign is sent, I would look at the Audience Breakdown to see how each segment performed. If you don’t see higher unsubscribes from users who ONLY wanted to see deals when they receive the newsletter, then you could continue to send both.Or, you could draw a “line” that defines a type of message type to the type of segment. For example, I would primarily focus on the “Blog” segment given the campaign type is a newsletter. The majority of the content there will be tied to those that want to see Blog content, even though, it will also include a deal.Alternatively, if you were going to send a campaign that was primarily a deal, then I would only include the segment of people who indicated they wanted to receive a deal.I hope this helps!@In the Inbox
