Sometimes I see a simple typo mistake such as: @gmial.com or @hotmail.con, yahoo.co.uj, etc.

Because of GDPR, we can’t correct the email address. The last thing I want is an ICO complaint by trying to be helpful.

A built-in basic validation for common email domain mistakes that flags it up with the user before submitting would help keep lists clean and help our customers.

Hello @Stuart at HIPPO

That’s an excellent point — and you’re completely right to be cautious.

At the moment, Klaviyo doesn’t include built-in validation to detect small typos in email domains (like @gmial.com, @hotmail.con, or @yahoo.co.uj). These little mistakes happen often, and since GDPR prevents you from manually correcting them, they can easily lead to lost leads or undeliverable messages.

The good news is, there’s a simple and compliant workaround you can use today! 🎯

You can add a JavaScript validation script to your Klaviyo-embedded form that automatically checks for common domain typos and alerts the user before submission — giving them a chance to fix their email right away.

For example, if someone types @gmial.com, the form will show a friendly message like:

“Did you mean @gmail.com?”

This keeps your email list clean, improves deliverability, and stays 100% GDPR-safe since users correct their own details before submitting.

In summary:

  • Klaviyo doesn’t yet have built-in typo detection.

  • You can easily add a short validation script to fix this.

  • It’s GDPR-friendly, helps users fix errors instantly, and keeps your list healthy.
