Question

Shopify revenue mixing USD, MXN, and EUR

Hey,

Our Shopify store’s base currency is USD, but customers can pay in USD, Mexican pesos (MXN), and euros (EUR).

Klaviyo appears to be adding these order amounts together without converting them into USD, affecting campaign, flow, and total revenue reporting.

For example, our Shopify Placed Order events show $34.98 for one order and MX$999.00 for another.

Ideally, how can we report all orders accurately in USD without excluding international purchases?

Is there a supported integration setting or event-property solution? Can it also correct historical reporting?

please help!

Thanks!

Hi Sam,

Thank you for outling this inquiry- I’ll step in to provide some guidance on this subject!

What you are seeing is expected behavior: Klaviyo treats order value as a number and applies your account’s currency symbol. The currency/$value_currency field provides context, but it doesn’t convert amounts for standard dashboards, campaign or flow revenue, or attribution. So MXN 999 can be added as 999 to USD 34.98. Changing the account currency only changes the displayed symbol. Shopify syncs the value and should label the currency in the event data details, but Klaviyo will not automatically convert prices.

At this time, there isn’t a Shopify integration setting that automatically converts these orders to USD. To keep international orders in your reporting, normalize their values before reporting on them:

Klaviyo’s account currency setting won’t do the conversion. Benchmarks is a limited exception: it converts order revenue to USD, but that does not fix attributed revenue in standard reporting.

Additionally, historical orders won’t be corrected automatically by adding the converter, and this would only apply to new events. To correct historical reporting, you’d need a carefully planned backfill or rebuild of corrected order events, then use that corrected metric in reports. Since replacing or reimporting order history can affect existing metrics, flows, and segments, validate the approach before changing production data.
