Branded Domain verification issues

I’m currently trying to set up the Branded Domain for our account.
Through mxtoolbox.com I can verify that the requested records have propagated and are working, but whenever I try to get klaviyo to verify these records, all of them fail after several hours.
What am I missing?

@bmicaelo is it possible that another platform is also using this branded domain?  If Klaviyo is using “send” as a subdomain could it be that the other platform is too?  would it work if you chose a subdomain other than “send”?

@bmicaelo

Even though the DNS records appear correct in MXToolbox, Klaviyo will fail verification if any small detail doesn’t match exactly what Klaviyo provides. A few things to double-check:

1. Make sure no extra prefixes were added

Many DNS providers automatically append the root domain, which can create entries like:
send.daskapital.eu.daskapital.eu
If that happens, Klaviyo will reject the record even though MXToolbox shows it as valid.

2. Confirm the hostnames match Klaviyo’s format exactly

Your CNAME hosts should be:

  • send

  • kl1._domainkey

  • kl2._domainkey
Not the full domain name unless Klaviyo specifically gave it that way.

3. TTL should not cause failure, but duplicated SPF records will

Make sure there is only one SPF TXT record. Multiple SPF records can break verification.

4. Remove any old or conflicting DNS records

If previous Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or Outlook DKIM/SPF records exist, they may conflict.

5. After correcting, click Verify again inside Klaviyo

Propagation shows as complete externally, but Klaviyo only accepts records that match exactly with no overrides.
