Hi!

About a year ago we collected a lot of emails (100k) but we canceled our plan because we’re not actively sending emails out. We’re now spinning up the same product again, and we would like to suppress all the old emails because of the monthly costs that come with it.

Problem is that Klaviyo gives an error when suppressing a profile. When bulk processing a list/segment it says “This segment cannot be suppressed”, when suppressing a single email it says “Unable to add email to suppressed list. Please check that the format is correct and try again.”, when importing a CSV to the suppressed profiles it doesn’t throw an error, but it doesn’t work either.

I assume it has to do with our plan being canceled, I can see in the dev console it’s throwing a 403: https://www.klaviyo.com/ux-api/profile-suppression-bulk-create-jobs/ 403 (Forbidden)

Thanks!

Hey @Wess,

Thanks for the question! The reason this is happening is because cancelled plans aren’t able to suppress profiles. The good news is that you should be able to reactivate your account to free, which will allow you to suppress profiles before you choose a payed plan. To do this, go to your billing preferences page, and press “Reactivate to free.” Once you do this, you’ll be able to suppress profiles. Our article here goes over this process. Let me know if you have any questions!
