I have a new Shopify store with no existing subscribers. I’ve synced Klaviyo with Shopify and using the default Shopify footer signup form. When an email address is submitted, it appears in Shopify Customers as “subscribed.” However, in Klaviyo a profile is created showing “provided email without opting in to email marketing,” and the contact is not added to any list. I have also tested email capture at checkout and the same thing is happening.
I’ve confirmed that double opt in is disabled in both Shopify and Klaviyo, and that the “sync your Shopify email subscribers” setting in Klaviyo is enabled and connected to the correct list.
I’ve also created a welcome flow that is set to trigger when someone is added to this list, but it isn’t sending because subscribers are not being added due to the signup issue!
Has anyone experienced this before or can offer any advice, please?

Shopify email subscribers are not being subscribed or added to lists in Klaviyo

Hi
What you described does seem to be unexpected, if Shopify is syncing email subscribers to Klaviyo, and the list in question is single opt-in. Was it single opt-in when you subscribed, and when you subscribed at checkout, did you check the box to consent to receive email marketing?
If so, we’d be happy to look into this more to determine why this is happening. Feel free to reach out to Klaviyo.com/support, or if you’re on a free account, send me a DM with your email address and account name included, and I can create a support ticket on your behalf!
