Updating segments with future communication
if someone's location is unknown start but further communication reveals where they live, will that update the profile and add people to location specific segments?

Welcome to the Community! Hope I can provide some info regarding how segments and new data work!
When you create a segment it will pull qualifying Profiles right away. If a Segment has already been created it and someone qualified after, you can see in our Help Article it states:
“Segmentation requests are processed as close to real-time as possible. This means your segment will update shortly after a customer takes an action that qualifies them based on the definition you created (e.g., placing an order or opening an email). In some cases, a high volume of segmentation requests across our customer base can cause delays.
- If you manually update a segment, it can take up to 15 minutes to process
- If you are monitoring a segment, updates can take up to an hour”
So as long as you have a way in your Klaviyo account for 1. A user’s location to be saved in their profile and 2. A method to update that information or collect that data, it will save.
