I reached out to support recently and was told that custom fonts are not supported in the new editor - are they going to be implemented at some point? Even incorporating google fonts would go a long way (look at how Elementor does this for a good reference).
Pretty disappointed with all the new features mentioned only to see that they’re mostly buggy or not ready.

That is correct, while custom fonts are not currently supported in the new editor, they will be implemented in a future release to the editor.
While many users are enjoying the new functionality offered by the new editor, we also understand with new releases there can also be challenges. To address this, we are actively collecting feedback as users engage with the new editor, and we will do our best to resolve any roadblocks in subsequent releases.
