Can I use an Email Template from the New Editor in Existing Flows?

Hi, I need help getting a New Editor email template I made into existing flows. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your question with us I am very happy to help!

You are definitely able to use our new template editor in existing flows! To utilize this feature, head to the existing flow you want to add the template to and add the email into the flow. When you click to ‘configure the content’ of that email, the bottom of your screen will ask you ‘How you’d like to design your email’, click the option of ‘Drag and Drop’, this will lead you to all available templates to choose from. Click the option of ‘My templates’ when you get to the next screen, and all the templates, old and new editor, that you’ve created should be shown in your collection of options.

Thanks for that but my whole problem is that I don’t know how to add the email into the flow in the first place. Could you please provide a step by step process of this.

Hi @meno-morphosis,

Of course! Would love to provide this for you! When you go to your Flows Tab in your Klaviyo Account, go to the perspective Flow you wish to edit, and when you see this screen, shown below, you will drag the icon that says ‘Email’ over to the Flow where you see a green plus icon and voila!

I know getting started with Klaviyo can be a lot to learn and intimating at first, but you’ll get the hang of it in no time! I would suggest checking out these other Help Center Articles to learn more about Flows and our Klaviyo Academy courses, which are basically virtiual classes to help you build product knowledge!

Hi there, I’m having challenges trying to use the new template editor with the abandoned cart block that’s the default in the create Flows tool. Is there a way to do this? Since this is block dynamically pulls from our Shopify store, it’s not really something I can really can create on my own, and as far as I can tell, that pre-built content block for an abandoned cart is only available in the old editor, and when I save the block as universal, it only saves it for use in the old editor and is not accessible in the new editor.

Any help would be appreciated, all my templates are made with the new editor and I don’t want to have to recreate them in the old editor.

Although we don’t have the capability to convert templates built with our classic editor to the new editor, this feature is currently on our roadmap! I would keep an eye out for when it does become available in the near future.

Additionally, you can absolutely rebuild the dynamic table block that was pre-provided in the pre-built abandoned cart emails! In fact, our template specialist, @Anna McCarthy recently gave a great walkthrough tutorial on how to do exactly this - building a dynamic table block for the abandoned cart flow in the new editor. You can find her walkthrough in the post below:

We also offer the How to Build Dynamic Blocks in a Flow Email (new editor) Help Center article which details similar instructions that @Anna McCarthy demonstrated. In essence, the methods used to build a dynamic table block in our new editor versus our classic editor are the exact same. The principles and process hasn’t changed. The main difference between the two editors when it comes to building out dynamic table blocks is circled around the UI where some options have shifted and been updated in the new editor.
