Question

Clickable discount codes that expire 7 days post receiving

I am setting up a new Welcome email series - within the email I am creating a link that adds 10% discount to their bag when they click through so they don't have to type a code out - is there a way for shopify to reset the session after 7 days post clicking so the 10% off doesn't stay in their bag?
Or if I do create unique coupons per profile can I still make the links clickable so its automatically added to their bag?

I bascially want to avoid them having to type the code out and I want it to expire

Thank you in advance!

Hey @GabriellaB1515

yes, unique codes (dynamic coupons) work the same way as static ones for the clickable link.

The discount doesn't live in a browser session, it lives inside the code itself, so you control when it expires by setting an end date on the code, not by resetting anything on the Shopify side.

For a welcome series, the better setup is a unique coupon code per profile, with the expiration set as a number of days after send rather than a fixed calendar date. That way someone who signs up today and someone who signs up three months from now both get exactly 7 days from when they receive the email, and you're not stuck manually updating a date. You can build this when creating your unique Shopify coupon in Klaviyo.

the format for your unique coupon code should be - {{ organization.url|trim_slash }}/discount/{% coupon_code 'your_coupon_name' %}?redirect=/collections/all

feel free to change the redirect path for wherever page you want them to land on your website.

Clicking it applies the discount straight to their cart, no typing required, and it expires on its own once the 7 days are up.

I hope this helps

Cheers
