I am starting Klaviyo for the first time. I am trying to test out a new flow I created. I uploaded a CSV with dummy profiles (but real internal emails) and set the flow to live. I am not getting any email to the email that was added.

Earlier when I tried to send a test email I didn’t receive anything either. I have followed all the videos and instructions I can find! Help

Hey @FBS ,

This is almost always one of a few simple setup issues when a flow doesn’t fire for the first time in Klaviyo. Let’s go through it step by step so you can isolate it quickly.

1. First check: is the profile actually entering the flow?

Open your flow → go to Analytics / Activity → search for one of the test email addresses.

If there’s no activity at all, the issue is not sending. It means the profile is not entering the flow trigger.

That usually comes down to:

  • the trigger condition not being met, or
  • the profile not qualifying for the trigger yet

2. Most common issue in your setup (CSV upload + flow trigger mismatch)

Uploading a CSV does not automatically trigger a flow unless the trigger is set up correctly.

Check what your flow is based on:

If it’s list-triggered:

  • You must upload the CSV into the exact list that triggers the flow
  • If you uploaded into a different list, nothing will fire

If it’s segment-triggered:

  • The profile must already match the segment conditions after import
  • If the segment wasn’t re-evaluated or the logic excludes them, they won’t enter

3. Segment-triggered flow nuance (very important)

If your flow is triggered by a segment, Klaviyo only enrolls people when they:

  • newly enter that segment, unless back-population is enabled

So if you created the segment after uploading, or the conditions weren’t met at import time, those profiles won’t enter automatically.

Check:

  • Does the imported email actually appear inside the segment right now?

4. Test email not arriving

If even test emails are not arriving, check this separately:

  • Spam or Promotions tab
  • Sending domain authentication status

Go to:
Settings → Email → Sending Domain

If your domain is not authenticated yet, test emails can be inconsistent or delayed.

5. Fast isolation test

Do this to pinpoint the issue in under 2 minutes:

  • Manually add a brand new Gmail address to the exact list or segment
  • Wait a few minutes
  • Check flow activity for that profile

If it enters, your setup is correct and the issue is with your CSV logic.
If it does not enter, the trigger setup is wrong.

If you want, I can look at your exact trigger setup and tell you in one pass what’s blocking it.

Hi @FBS,

Based on what you described, it appears that nobody entered your flow because you added profiles to your list before setting the flow live. If you go to your flow > Manage Flow > Add Past Profiles, you can add profiles to your flow that would have qualified before you set the flow live. Let me know if this works, and if that was the issue here!
