Is there an official certificate for the Klaviyo Deliverability Certification?

Hi @Sayo1337! Thanks for dedicating the time to complete our Deliverability Certificate. You certainly do get a certificate of completion that is shareable on LinkedIn. I’m not sure why the instructions are missing from the confirmation email, so I will check on that. But regardless, you can still access your certificate! Log in to Klaviyo Academy, and then click your profile in the top right hand corner (it’s a little person icon, and then click My Profile). Scroll down to the bottom section of your profile page called Registrations and find “Deliverability certificate conclusion and exam”. You should see an icon that says “Add to LinkedIn Profile”. Hopefully that helps!

Yea or nay: Should you cross-sell or up-sell in transactional emails?

@stam_marko this is a great question! I would say that it would make sense to include instructions on product usage in the Delivery Notification email if you send those out of Klaviyo. Including this info in an Order Confirmation email may not be the right place since the customer has not yet received the order. But, I encourage you to limit the amount of additional text that you include. You can actually mix transactional and non-transactional messages within a flow. I’d recommend adding an additional email after your shipping or delivery confirmation email that just focuses on product usage. That way it’s also easy for people to remember that you sent them an email explicitly with instructions on how to use the product.

Hey @Grace Geraldo - that is correct! After you integrate Klaviyo with Zendesk and start responding to SMS messages from the Zendesk console, the messages are actually sent through Klaviyo’s send/receive network (meaning it uses Klaviyo’s sending infrastructure to do this). That means the same Klaviyo SMS sending credit rules apply to messages sent from Zendesk (or Gorgias if you use that integration). @Jakub So browse abandonment and abandoned cart are actually never considered transactional since they are not directly related to a transaction that has taken place. They’re a marketing strategy use to try and convert a purchase, but they are not essential messaging. It doesn’t matter which geo/locale your recipient is in, Klaviyo will never approve either one of those flows as “transactional”.

Hey @Jakub! GDPR explicitly states that recipients must be able to opt-out of marketing related messaging. Transactional emails do not have an unsubscribe button, therefore if you’re sending to recipients who fall under the jurisdiction of GDPR, you should not include any marketing/promotional material in your transactional emails at all. If you sell to customers in the EU, you want to make sure they do not receive any marketing messaging in their transactional messages due to the stricter limitations. You can isolate them one of two ways:Exclude them from your US-based flow using a flow filter, and then set up a separate flow that only goes to UK-based customers Use a conditional split within your transactional flows that splits the flow into two branches, delivering two variations of the transactional message based on location (the US version may have a small up-sell at the bottom while the UK version would contain no marketing messaging whatsoever) This is where leveraging a tech pa

How to clear a contact's bounce history

Hey John! This is a good question. In general, we recommend that you avoid deleting data whenever possible. The best way to get this contact back onto your mailing list would be to direct her to sign up again. This could mean you send her to a dedicated landing page where people can sign up (if you have one) or just simply tell her to sign up through an onsite signup form and have her re-subscribe herself. This should bring her profile back to Active status while maintaining all prior historical data on this contact.

@u7jewelry This is an interesting point. Sometimes when you run an A/B test, you may find that the change you made makes a fairly inconsequential difference. One message may not actually be significantly more impactful than another. If that’s the case, there are two things you can do:Run the test again on a larger group of customers to see if you get more significant results. It’s possible your test audience was too small and not representative of your whole audience. Test a different variable OR a new approach in your next A/B test to see if you can find a lever that leads to more significant results.So in short, there is no universal answer to the question of which is better. February Shoutouts: Check out a Hot Tip about Collecting Customer Info in Klaviyo!

Collecting zero-party data from customers is CRUCIAL in really understanding your target audiences. I recently recorded an episode of the Klaviyo Growth Podcast featuring Ben Parr from Octane AI where we talked about all of the different ways you can creatively collect data from customers (listen here if you’re interested in his take!) One of the easiest and most intuitive ways to collect information about subscribers is to leverage signup form targeting. Signup forms are great for collecting email addresses and phone numbers, but did you know that you can target forms at existing Klaviyo profiles (i.e. they’ve already given you their email address)? Signup form targeting is a simple way to improve a user’s on-site experience while collecting more information about them. For example, you can target users who have browsed three pages and then prompt them to fill out a form asking them what they’re shopping for. @shenkaa This is a great question, and you bring up a great point. If the profile property of Accepts Marketing is “false”, then it makes sense that they would not have received any emails in the last 180 days (since they did not accept). You can retarget these folks on Facebook. My suggestion would be to run a lead generation ad on Facebook. This ad would encourage them with some sort of incentive to subscribe to your email list (and effectively accept marketing). You could even create two different “No Emails Received” segments — one that includes a condition where “Accepts Marketing” is “False” and one where “Accepts Marketing” is “True”. You could target the first group with a Facebook ad and then simply send a campaign to the second group.

Hi @Meme Rebels!The way we built the Never Active segment in the training, the segment will show folks who have received an email (meaning you gave them the change to engage with email) and that they have never opened an email, clicked an email or placed an order.If you want to also filter out people who are Active on Site or who Started Checkout, you can simply add additional criteria to your segment. In this case, you would add “person has started checkout zero times over all time”. By adding this extra criteria, you will filter out those two people who started checkout. Hope that helps!

@emilycavanagh You’re so welcome, I’m glad you found it helpful! Product blocks are a super useful block that can help you feature products. Today’s training was more focused on high-level layout, but product blocks are definitely a recommended way to promote people purchasing a specific product. A lot of the email examples we looked at were for brand new products or new colors, so there was more hype to build around them. I’d recommend using product blocks to promote products that are not brand-new (Best Sellers are a great use case for product blocks). Dynamic product blocks are also great if you’re trying to customize the offering to be relevant to the reader. If you DO include a product block, treat that as your CTA. I would avoid trying to get people to take two very different actions in the same email (IE. Read our policy update AND buy this new product).
