How to send a "Ask for a review" email? (post-purchase flow)

Hey @CharlesPointFr,Thank you for your question. I would trigger a review request based upon the Shopify fulfilled event trigger mentioned in this post. But if you use a Shopify/Klaviyo partner like Okendo. We can help with your review flow sequences. Even sprinkle in different strategies like email then SMS request if not fulfilled. Okendo also has a lot of ways to collect additional data points (customer or product) within the review process!

Email Marketing without opt-in pop ups

Hey @Digital Postman, Sorry to hear that your client is having low opt-in rates or acquisition. Love the idea of building trust with new customers, especially in the children's education space. But with the acquisition format have you considered limiting the ask/fields required? The form could be discouraging sign up rates. And also what type of offer have you offered for the sign up? While people might want to sign up for content/education. Maybe doing a contest, e-book, or something else of value upon sign up would be helpful for engagement rates.

Multiple opt-in offers within welcome flow

Hey @Emmington, I would look to keep your initial pop up form simple and less than 3 fields (name, email, 1 data point of interest). Opt in rates dramatically decrease when you have 3 or more fields in a pop up. You could potentially look into a secondary data/preference collection in your email flows. Asking people their choice versus requiring them to fill a form will help build trust and increase collection rates. Hope this helps!

Google destination policy, popups and interstitials

Hey @wernstrom, Thank you for your question. Google had changed its policies several times over the past few years. What usually has a negative effect on your ranking with Google is popups/overlays that cover the majority of your content with little ability to navigate away AND the content of the overlay comes from an external source. Best way to think about it is if you receive a full screen car ad when you click through a news source (something we all experience). THAT is what they are concerned with and punish sites. Your overlays/popups should have no negative effects!

How many of you use a third party pop up app?

Hey @SeanMcC, I highly recommend checking out Justuno. You can run some basic pop up captures. But if you want to focus on visitor conversion. They have some really advance targeting features that allow you to determine when, where, and who sees your marketing campaigns. Plus, I really love their design canvas and settings. More optin = better Klaviyo performance.

Hey @skyangelcafe - Adding to the retention answer. And HTML form code is probably the best route for your Shopify pages. A quick copy/past of that code can be an easy setup.

Add Name (personalization) on sing up forms

Hey @C4ptainJ3lue, Love the idea of collecting a name on the form. The post engagement screen is usually a general “thanks for signing up” message. But I would also recommend trying to add 1 or 2 more fields of interest that are optional to the online visitor. Adding a field like preference (mens vs women for example) or an SMS number could be a great way to enhance your personalization efforts.

Data Capture Within Emails

Hey @Jblease-Wiliams, Love the idea of additional data collection of your customers. It will dramatically increase your segmentation options and create better personalization efforts. I would also explore options to collect data points via onsite forms (think pop ups with optional fields). Or additional data points via reviews or surveys!

Hey @dotdev - The signup form should have a filter that says “Show once per session” or “Show once ever.” This should prevent multiple triggers in the same shopping window.

Why does Shopify report less sales than Klaviyo?

Hey @murdock677 - Unfortunately most platforms have their own set of attribution and processes when it comes to sales. Some brands try to have 1 source of truth (klaviyo, shopify, GA for example). But I recommend brands trying to find the best attribution model that works for your business and setting your marketing tools to a consistent model.

Abandoned Cart vs Checkout Started

Hey @jmacman - The advice above is great. I would definitely test both cart started vs. cart abandonment. One thing I would recommend for both flows is adding aggregate reviews or a link to reviews for the product shown in the email. I have seen dramatic improvements in click thru rates and overall conversions when adding social proof to these emails. There are a few review providers out there that connect with Klaviyo (Okendo being one).

How to embed a signup form on my blog pages?

Hey @Bestvaled - Instead of an embedded form. I recommend either a tab that triggers a pop up form. Or a floating/header signup bar that visitors can optin at any time (or close if not interested). Embedded forms have way lower signup rates compared to popups/signup bars.

Hey @lorenmn - Love the idea of a freebie with a signup/purchase. I would also A/B test other incentives like free shipping or buy one and get 50% off a second item. Continually changing your offer or signup form messaging throughout the year (seasonal) is a great way to keep up engagement for new customers.

Hey @Della - Love the idea of collecting additional data points with your subscribers. Radio buttons sometimes have higher optin rates versus a dropdown menu for example. But I recommend keeping your fields optional to ensure highest email collection rate as possible and if consumers added additional fields it can be a nice addition.

Signup forms - Where are the rest of my signups?

Hey @kflo - While double opt in can help with ensuring email address. I recommend removing the double opt in and gathering as many signups as possible. More effort for consumers can cause some friction/frustration during early trust building with new consumers. Try to gather email addresses in your form and maybe even asking for additional data points (gender/birthday/sms/etc). Let people offer insights to help you personalize better.

Linking a QR code to a SMS sign up form

Hey @LisaSM - Another QR strategy that has worked with merchants is dropping a piece of paper in their shipment (place in during fulfillment). Something general like 10% off next purchase. But unboxing items has 100% open rate and merchants have been seeing some great engagement when adding a QR code with their shipped orders! Love mixing in different strategies to push the engagement of customer and increase LTV!

Klaviyo hosted signup form too small on mobile

Hey @eggplanted - Stephen is correct with the design/formatting option here. I would also recommend looking into which fields/data you want to collect. Outside of email/sms. What data point of interest will have the biggest impact on your marketing efforts (name, bday, etc?). This info should be made optional on submission. I would also recommend sticking to 3-5 fields at most (submission rates decrease a ton with multiple fields).
