Sudden Increase in Email Campaign Bounce Rates?

We also saw significant bounces since the Feb.1 changes, that resulted in a steep downward move to our deliverability score for a couple accounts.. Comcast in the US and BigPond in AU were the main domain providers who were blocking emails, resulting in high bounce rates. We were able to work with Klaviyo to reverse the deliverability issue thankfully. They reached out to these providers for us and got us removed from their blacklists after a few send tests from us to them to show that we are sending legitimate emails. In addition to removing these domain names from campaigns as others have said above, we also added a filter to all flows “Has not bounced ever over all time”. This has helped our flow bounce rates improve significantly, since Klaviyo’s default is to wait for 7 bounces before they suppress contacts.  Klaviyo also confirmed that they have seen a significant increase in bot traffic in a lot of accounts since Feb. 1, and recommended we switch to a double opt-in email subscri

Thanks for the recording.. since Klaviyo has great domain deliverability tools and dashboards in their platform to check spam rates for Google and Yahoo domains.. I’m curious why Klaviyo is promoting to Use Google Postmaster Tools to monitor your spam complaint rate?

Another question directed at the klaviyo team:Google mentions that everyone on a shared IP is held responsible by the entire group’s spam rate..How will Klaviyo ensure us spam rates are low for the group IP we’re in?

Klaviyo won’t allow me to edit it!I realize now we can send to more than 5k gmails per day, but need to keep below the 0.3% (0.1% preferred by Google), and have the DMARC and SPF configured. that makes it a bit easier, to just send to engaged contacts only.. however are any of you worried we will lose contacts due to this? Will Apple’s IOS privacy rules that hide user identities be an issue here?

So we have 3 weeks to go before Google and Yahoo implement these changes..Klaviyo team, will you be coding the one-click unsubscribe for us? Also not many people chatting here about these changes, even though this is the biggest regulation change to email for quite some time..My biggest concern is how we will stick to 5k gmail recipients per day when we have 50k+ engaged gmail accounts for some of our clients..?Should make for some fun segmentation and multi-day campaign sends 😓

Hey guys.. is there a discussion about keeping within the 5k sending limit for google or Yahoo contacts anywhere in the community?Personally these steps with DMARC, from name and unsubscribes are the easy part to comply..What about the accounts that have 50k+ google contacts… how are we supposed to space out a campaign over 10 days sending to 5k contacts each day?Next BFCM should be fun with these limitations..

Has Anyone Used a Conversational Pop-UP form?

@jolynnyy have you tried a quiz app like quiz kit, quizify or quizlet?This will allow for conversational-like questions, allow for email/sms capture, and also allow for recommended products to be shown based on the answers..I agree with @In the Inbox here.. it’s best to keep popups who’s goal is to capture emails with a limited number of steps/fields..However, if the goal is to capture more info about visitors, than using a quiz app will help you achieve this.

Create Segment of discount-only shoppers

@denise.b .. There is a manual workaround that I’ve done before… you can download the list of coupon uses as csv (from the coupon page), this contains the contact emails… then upload this csv back into klaviyo with these emails and a new field such as Welcome coupon used = yes..This will attach this property to the profiles so you can build a segment to send out a campaign.Again this is a manual process that isn’t dynamic, so only really good for campaigns or general analytics reporting.

Is there a way to Integrate Gmail and Klaviyo to create CRM-like features?

@vitbarreto for your question about “adding attribute tags for specific customer behaviors and insights”… this can be achieved through flows..   I set up a lot of flows that automatically update a profile property when a certain action is completed, or when the contact enters into a segment (which can be set up according to any filters you like). I then use these tags/profile properties to customize the text/images/recommended products in emails/sms. Note: you can also send a “notification” email to your gmail from a flow when these contacts perform the action.. I believe this is the closest thing Klaviyo allows to reproduce the CRM functionality you’re looking for. Hopefully this helps.

How and why should I create a Custom Report in Klaviyo?

I agree.. the custom reports have been very helpful and have saved my a ton of time on monthly numbers.I gave a couple examples of my favorite ones posted in this thread.

January Shoutouts: Check out a Hot Tip about Custom Reports in Klaviyo!

I think the reports “flow revenue by month” and “campaign revenue by month” are super valuable when timeframe “sent in last 365 days” by “month” is selected. They are quick to run at the end of each month (saving me a lot of time from the traditional “sorting through email data CSVs”), and they are easily readable overviews of each month that can be quickly shared with clients. SMS stats can also be added to these reports by adding them in the “Standard Flow Metrics” dropdown menu. My favorites are SMS click rate, SMS failed delivery rate, and SMS unsubscribe rate.

@Akil I have a question for Royce Yap..I’m curious if your algorithm averages out the percentages (click, open, conversion, etc.) based on how many emails are in a flow..  For example, how do you compare companies who have just 1 email in their welcome flow which brings in 70% open rates and 20% clicks because of a coupon code, against a welcome flow with 6+ emails... where open, click and conversion rates average down when you take in account all of the emails.

What's the best way to implement a highly segmented Post Purchase/Winback flow strategy?

Hi @aliciasyro , you should be able to add the time delays for each region directly in the flows using conditional statements.. you can then use the exact same emails for all contacts for each segment, and not have to create so many flows..

Resending campaigns to people that didn't open: recommended or not?F.A.Q.

I agree! I see so many clients and agencies doing this, but you’re right it just lowers deliverability.. Another option is to tweak the subject line and copy slightly, and resend the campaign to the contacts who opened or clicked but did not purchase… the open rates will be much higher, and you can pick up more customers who thought about buying but forgot, or were on the fence.

Engaged SegmentsTutorial

Keith is spot on! We always see more engagement and orders when we use engaged segments vs blasting to the full list.. but definitely open up larger campaigns to more people to get them re-engaged.. I even like sending to engaged in 365 days segment once in a while..

Engaged SegmentsTutorial

I agree engaged segments are very important Julie.. what do you think of adding in events like active on site, viewed product, started checkout, and placed order in the last 30, 60, 90 days, etc…?I personally like adding these website events in since these contacts are also very engaged even if they aren’t being tracked for email opens, which we all know isn’t 100% accurate. For warming up IPs is different, but for most flows and campaigns, these are still engaged contacts worth sending emails to in my opinion..
