Building personalized, streamlined flows just got easier with the release of Klaviyo’s Flows AI. If you have even a nugget of an idea, slot it into the Flows AI builder and Klaviyo will do the work for you.
How to get started with Klaviyo Flows AI
- Go to the Flows tab in Klaviyo.
- Click “Create Flow.”
- Click “Build Your Own.”
- Select “Create with AI.”
- Name your flow.
- Type out a description of the flow you want to create. The more details you include, the more accurate your flow creation will be. Let Klaviyo know what you want to trigger the flow, any profile or event filters to include or exclude, and flow actions such as the number of emails and time delays between them.
- Click “Generate Draft” and Klaviyo will build out the flow structure for you.
- If you’re happy with the structure, click “Edit flow” to add content to your emails.
With AI, language matters
When writing the description of your flow, the words you use matter. Consider these two examples:
- “Create a 2 email flow when someone orders the product Test Product. Send the first email after 3 days and the second email 3 days after. Don’t include customers who have purchased since starting this flow.”
- “Create a 2 email flow when someone places an order for Test Product. Send the first email after 3 days and the second email 3 days after. Don’t include customers who have purchased since starting this flow.”
Whereas the first description builds the flow with the trigger of “Ordered Product,” the second description builds the flow with the trigger of “Placed Order.” The flow filters will be based on the product name you mention—in this case, Test Product. If that’s not the name of the product in your store, the filter will not work correctly and you’ll need to update it in the flow filter section after your flow is built.
Another option instead of using the complete name of a product is to filter by whether a product includes a term. For example: “Create a 2 email flow when someone places an order for a product that contains the word ‘Test’”
Klaviyo Flows AI use cases
I used Flows AI to build out cross-sell flows based on the product or variant someone purchased. For a client in the food and beverage industry, I built out a flow cross-selling cans when a customer purchased a bottle. This flow generated more purchases for cans, which increased this client’s average order value.
In another example, I built a new abandoned check-out flow with a trigger split for the number of products in the cart. Any carts with 3 or more products or a value of $150+ got a bigger discount incentive. This resulted in an increased placed order rate for those customers.
If you have an idea for a flow but you’re not sure how to set it up, let Klaviyo help you out. Write out your flow description and see how Klaviyo structures it. You can edit your description until you’re satisfied with the structure, then build out the content portion of the flow. You can use Klaviyo’s Email AI to help generate subject lines and email content as well.
With Klaviyo AI, iIf you can dream it, you can build it.
