Let's Talk Custom Fonts!Tutorial

This longer post will be centered only on adding custom fonts for the new email editor, but don’t worry - I’ve included Loom videos and some links below that show how to add fonts in the classic editor as well!To add a custom font to the new email editor, first collect your import link. This import link can be from google fonts, adobe typekit, or if you’re using a font that is not available on google/adobe, the font file has to be uploaded to either your website’s (ex: add font file to Shopify) backend or your DNS provider (ex: add font to AWS). All you will need to add the font to Klaviyo, is an import link of any kind. Screenshots attached of different import links. Once you have the import link, navigate to Brand Library in your account. Select Fonts > select which font type you are importing. Please note, not all email clients will show custom fonts, so a fall back font is needed for all custom fonts. The fallback font will show when an email client can’t load the custom font.Fo

How can I add a "head" tag to an email?

I have a custom font coming from Typography.com, but I’m not able to add it the Klaviyo recommended way. According to Typography.com’s guide, I need to add it with a <head> tag and in the head tag I need to paste a <link> tag referencing the external stylesheet with all the fonts.Like this:<head>   <link rel=”stylesheet” type="text/css" href=”https//:cloud.redacted.com/fonts.css”/></head>Every time I try to paste a snippet like this into a text block, it disappears after saving, even when trying to paste plain text.Is there any way to do this?

Using "description" in a dynamic product block

We would like to include the Description in a product block using dynamic products from a product feed. The option seems to be only available when using static products, so the alternative would be looping over the feed.However, simply repeating a block on feeds.FEED_NAME seems not to work. Is there another way to loop over product data feeds?Thanks!

"Full-width on mobile" in text box not deleting extra padding on mobile view

The text box component in the new editor has a “full width on mobile” option, but it doesn’t work as expected. When enabled, the text still displays 18px padding on left and right, making it look indented, instead of full width. I’ve reached out to support about this, thinking that it must be a bug, but they told me this is the intended behavior.So confusing. What would be the point of having a “full width on mobile” option that doesn’t make the text full width? Any thoughts?-oo

New and Classic Editors: Clearing External StylesTutorial

New Editor - Clearing External StylesYou could be seeing display issues once your email is sent, if you originally created the email by copying and pasting your text from a different source (Google Docs, Microsoft word, external email, etc). When copying/pasting this content, the external inline styles from the original source can get carried over causing display issues since these styles are not native to Klaviyo. If you are copying/pasting content from an external source (google docs, different email, etc) please ensure to either 'paste without formatting' or paste and then clear formatting in order to clear inline styles. In order to clear these external inline styles, please highlight the content > select the 3 dots button > clear formatting, to remove these styles.On Macs you can paste without formatting using: Command + Shift + V. On PCs you can paste without formatting using: Ctrl+Shift+V You can always 'paste without formatting' or clear formatting, and then using Block S

Why are there duplicate blocks in my emails in Gmail and Outlook?

Hello All!I’ve run into a few issues in the last few weeks within our campaign and flows that has left my myself and colleague scratching our heads. For the last year that we’ve been with Klaviyo, I have designed every email with two different versions; a desktop view and a mobile view. Trying to optimize our design for our subscribers any way that they view our content. Seems like this is an industry standard. And it’s worked out great, except recently. The issue is that sometimes test emails and campaigns that myself, members of our team, and our subscribers have received from our company display with duplicate blocks. This was first experienced internally, within the small email provider we use amongst our company. It isn’t the most complex system so it seemed to be more on the provider end rather than Klaviyo. As I’ve created emails, I’ve seen this issue occur on the two biggest providers, Gmail and Outlook. It doesn’t matter if these are test or live emails. All the content from b

Is it possible to add two variable to check in an if statement snippet?

Howdy!Is it possible to set custom varibles tough the templating language like this?{% if <condition> %} {% variable_name = <some value> %}{% else %} {% variable_name = <some other value> %}{% endif %}That would be extremely useful to not have to duplicate large chunks of templating code.If that is not directly supported, is there any hack for achieving a similar result?

Unsubscribe Not Working

Hey everyone! For some reason unsubscribe has stopped working for our emails. They are all set up properly, but for some reason the tag does not create a link when the email is sent. It still simply shows up as “{% unsubscribe %}” in plain text. We have tried several variations of the unsubscribe tag, and multiple templates all with the same result.Any ideas as to why when an email is sent the tags aren’t being converted to working links?thanks!

Back to Basics: Fixing Blurry LogosTutorial

 Logos are how customers remember your brand. Therefore, it’s important to use one that is clear and crisp in your emails.We recommend for your logo image to have at least 72dpi. This dpi rate is different than actual pixel size. For logo pixels, we recommend around 170 x 40 pixels.You can also use a logo larger than this size, and then use the 'image width' field to make the logo show smaller, but the actual image size is larger. Please take a look here for more information on logos.I can also suggest using an image block for the logo, and then a 'links only' header bar below. Email Template Formatting issues

Hi Guys, I am having some issues with the formatting of an email. It is an issue I have not encountered before and I am hoping you may be able to help. The email has a Typeform survey embedded, which we have not done before and so I am wondering if this is causing the issue.  When I send an email preview to myself (on a Mac) it is showing absolutely fine, but my colleagues (on a PC) have issues viewing the content. The phone previews are absolutely fine, it is desktop that seems to be the issue. Hi there,I want to show a subtotal of all line items in my order email.Unfortunately the WooCommerce event data doesn’t include that.My idea is to loop through every item in the order and add the prices to a subtotal.Is that possible?I saw, that there are “For blocks”. Can I use them for my idea?

Max height for product images

Hi,I added the product image to our transactional emails.Unfortunately the WooCommerce integration only adds the original image url and no thumbnails.Therefore the images are often way too big. I saw, that I can add a max width to the dynamic image. Thats a good start.But I need an option the add a max height as well. Otherwise the images are very big and all with different heights.The best way would be a thumbnail URL in the event data. But a max height would do it as well.Is there any way to do this?This is what I see in the image element of the table:

Klaviyo’s New Template Editor versus the Classic Template EditorF.A.Q.

The Classic Editor is deprecated as of May 2023. This post can be used to highlight the added benefits of the New Editor or instructions using it.  There are many exciting differences between the new and old editor. Other than an updated UI (user interface) for a fresh, clean look, the new editor introduced Sections and Columns as well. Sections are essentially grouping mechanisms. A section can be dragged/dropped into the template and then more than one block can be added into a section, and the whole section can be saved - in order to save more than one block at a time, or a whole layout. You can add Columns into a section. Columns allow you to add blocks side by side rather than just vertically stacked. I have a different loom video specifically explaining sections and columns here as well for more info specifically on this.  In the New Editor, you can also add in background images to sections which is not possible within the old editor. Do tables ignore the default styles?

Hi,I changed the default font size for desktop to 16px and mobile to 14px. It works fine in text widgets for example.But in tables the font size is still 14px on desktop. If I change it in the table element to 16px, the mobile view also shows the font in 16px.Is there any way to solve this?

Hey Community, I need guidance on how to correctly resize images for desktop and mobile emails so there is no pixelation. No matter what size or file type I use for images, whenever I upload imagery assets I can never find the right sizing.  I’d appreciate help and guidance please.

Automatic Discount link

Howdy!I have my welcome flow emails setup so that the discount is automatic when they click on the CTA button.However, the setup for this takes them to my shopify website homepage. I would rather send them to the collections page of my website where all my products are listed. But when I edit the discount button link with this change, it doesn't work. Instead of going to the collections page it goes to a an error 404 page.Is it possible for an automatic discount link to go to any page of my website? Or must it link only to my homepage?Thank you!

My admin never setup our brand library.  I can upload images to the library, but the brand and fonts tabs are empty and there are no options for uploading anything.  How can I get this set up?

Selecting multiple buttons

I’ve added multiple buttons to an email where each button correlates to a different product. I am asking recipients to select products they like the most. This information is then collected and added to their profile in the custom properties section which will then be used to create lists and segments. However, in an ideal world I would love to be able to have them select more than one button, and add multiple favorite products to their profile so that I can add them to multiple segments and lists. What is the best way to accomplish this as a CTA in a Welcome email?

New Klaviyo Template Builder?

This is going to be a very short rant. Can’t Klaviyo afford QA professionals (if any) to thoroughly test out new features and/or products before launching?Why is the new Klaviyo Template builder is almost as bad as the old one in terms of bugs/usability/user experience?I’ve spent numerous hours building new templates back and forth and most of the time I just stick with the Plain Text editor, because both template editors either don’t work as intended or you have to find a workaround just to perform simple edits. Just recently I’ve switched to the new template editor. It’s ain’t bad, it does work better than the old one, but the bugs/glitches… Sometimes the “duplicate” button doesn’t show up, sometimes when you make one block for desktop, one for mobile, it still shows the same block twice (ignoring your settings), and so on and on… I could name at least 10 different situations when the template editor malfunctioned. Given the fact that I currently own close to 100 different emails on

Changing default Heading and Paragraph Styles

Is there is a way to edit the default parameters that appear in a text box for the “Format” dropdown?I use Klaviyo for a few clients and I am getting really exhausted with having to constantly edit source code to do what I want. I know I can save certain block styles and load those in as needed but this doesn’t work for every possible scenario. I would just like to replace the “Paragraph, Heading 1, Heading 2” formats with my own branding. I also thought when I choose a new font for my brand that this would at least override the gaudy default font but it doesn’t. More importantly I’d also like to be able to set my own line-heights, spacing, text-transformation, etc for each format. All the default format settings are generic WISYWIG horrors.Really hoping I’m just overlooking an easy solution here so I don’t have to work so hard to design a basic branded email.Thanks.
