Risk of overwriting profile information when importing a .CSV?
So long story short - I’m trying to find a workaround while transitioning from a 3rd party “back in stock” notification app to using Klaviyo, but there are quite a few people already signed up for notifications from the app.My plan was to create multiple small lists via manual upload (that will later on be deleted) for each SKU that is awaiting replenishment notification, then create a simple template and send manual campaigns as each item is re-stocked… but many of the profiles already exist in Klaviyo. Most of them are not subscribed or suppressed (some heavy list cleaning is on the horizon once I’ve implemented win-back and sunset campaigns/flows).I’m concerned about what happens if I upload CSV’s that only contain an email address, and the email address is already associated with a profile in Klaviyo...Per this article: https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005078967-How-to-Create-and-Add-Contacts-to-a-New-List:“Any value/column that you include in a CSV upload that alread
Unsubscribe page for emails sent to Segments
I’m a new user and very confused about Unsubscribe/Preferences.Our customer Profiles are being populated via the API and not going onto a List. Campaigns and Flows will be targeted based on Segments. I’d like to create sophisticated manage preferences options someday but we are starting simple without that. As I understand it, that means I am stuck with the default Unsubscribe page, but I am seeing problems with that:That page contains, by default, both an UNSUBSCRIBE button and a link to UPDATE PREFERENCES. I can’t edit those. The Update Preferences link is extremely confusing if you don’t have any preferences that can be updated. I hope I’m missing something simple, here. HELP!
How do I add existing Subscribers to a list?
Hey everyone,I’m brand new to Klaviyo and have just added it to my store, which is due to launch this week. I already have 3000 people who’ve signed up on the shopify coming soon page to be notfiied about our launch, but I cannot seem to work out how to add those existing subscribers into a Klaviyo list. Can anyone help/advise?Thanks!Ben
Does Klaviyo automatically who make a purchase from my site, or do I have to go in and manually add it??
Does Klaviyo add to the contact list customers who make a purchase from my site without signing up, or do I have to go in and manually add them? Related to that, do their names get added when they sign up? And is their purchase implied permission to be added to the contact list? Sorry, a lot of questions!
Mailchimp integration – GDPR field not imported
Hi there,Just imported our Mailchimp list using the integration. However, the GDPR field we have in the Mailchimp audience doesn’t appear in the profile information at all. So I’m guessing it didn’t import with the rest of the audience data.I know that Mailchimp tags are not imported automatically, and that’s fine. However, I thought the integration would import the actual fields of the audience, especially something as important as a GDPR field. Any idea how I can include the field in the import? Now I’m wondering what else could be missing from the data? This is just one that I noticed. Thanks,-oo
How Do I get my disappeared segments back?
Unfortunately my segments have disappeared and are not in archived!! Can you put them back or are the gone. I made then for every state in Australia. I don’t understand how they can just disappear! Is there any other way of recovery or I have to make them all again? Bev PS one more question the pop out subscribers list is not meant to come out until the person is leaving the page it comes out as soon as the page is loaded? What do you recommend to do about this? PSS my customers are getting an you left something it your cart after they have purchased something? Ive looked at my flow but don’t understand why this is happening, its terrible for my customers? I will wait your reply 😊
My Newsletter list does not include everyone who "accepts marketing".
I have recently set up a Klaviyo account and integrated it with my Shopify store. I have just over 2,000 profiles and according to Shopify, nearly 1,300 are subscribed to our emails. However, when uploading these contacts to the Newsletter list, the list only populated just over 900 profiles. This means that I have around 350 people who are supposedly subscribed to receive emails from us but are not in my Newsletter. Why might this be and how can I fix it?I have read the Whats the difference between accepts marketing and the Newsletter list? question which recommends using the ‘Subscribe customers who Accept Marketing to a Klaviyo list’ check box but I do not appear to even have this option in my Shopify integration settings and even if I did I’m not sure whether that would back-populate to include profiles that have already been uploaded. Can anyone offer any solutions to this? I am reluctant to start sending emails until this issue is resolved.
Assign scores based on actions
I wanted to know if it is possible to assign a score to the user during the process of a flow. This process would serve me to segment the hottest users versus the coldest ones, in order to swgment them and offer them purchase offers. I would also like to know if this score, once the segment has been created and set as the initial trigger of a new flow, will allow me to send new emails.
Growth statistics for a segment
Hi everyoneI’m new to the group so apologies in advance if this has been asked. I searched but could not find it.I am wanting to see growth statistics of a segment for the last 6 months, preferably weekly. I understand you can do this for a list but is there a way i can do this for a segment?
Adding an Opted-In Attribute
I’m new to using Klaviyo and I’m trying to find the most efficient way to select customers who have opted-in and have not unsubscribe, none regarding where the data was collected. At the moment, we add every-single lists into a segment (there are a lot and it will only continue growing) and add the condition ‘is not suppressed from marketing’ which I feel is quite a hassle. Is there an attribute (existing or custom) which could be as simple as ‘Marketing Permission is True’ or ‘Opted-in to Marketing’ and which would be updated when someone is added to a list or unsubscribe from emails? Thanks
Segmenting by Two Profiles Using the Same Email Address
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me? In order to comply with external regulations, one of my clients need to ensure that each customer on their database has their own account on their website. They currently have a list of customers that have different names and the same email address because they’re a family member, friend etc., but I need to segment these people so that we can add them into a flow to send them the email to update their details or create a separate account. Does anyone know how I could segment these people? I’ve already tried things such as Person’s first name equals 2 but have had no luck so was hoping someone would know if there’s an answer? I want to be able to get around manually uploading a CSV as a list but don’t know whether it’s possible or not? Thanks!
Removing Duplicate Profiles Between Lists
Hello! We created a welcome flow for our ETSY customers and we’re about ready to start sending promotions to this new ETSY customer list. Our concern is that there may be profiles on our ETSY list, which also appear on our main SHOPIFY customer list. Our question: How can we remove (suppress) DUPLICATES from the Etsy list, our preference is to keep a duplicate profile on our main SHOPIFY customer list, but to remove any duplicate profiles from our ETSY customer list? Hope that made sense! Thanks in advance, Jason
How to test my preferences page?
I’ve created a standard preferences center page. It has a multi checkbox option (we want to subscribers to be able to choose which emails they receive). It will be linked to in our welcome series. I would like to test:That the link works (but I can’t get a live preview by sending a test email) and that the choices the subscriber will make can be pulled and queried into segmentationCan’t seem to figure out how best to do this!
Back in Stock Flow not sending to suppressed profiles
Hi there,I think there is a logic error in the back in stock flow. Every now and then we see that a suppressed user signs up for the queue, but then does not receive an email because he is suppressed. In my understanding, the flow should be sent regardless of the status of the user (active or suppressed), as this is a separate signup and no newsletters are sent on it.I had already contacted the support with this problem, but unfortunately no solution could be found. Do you have similar problems? Have you found solutions how to work around the problem?
Linking list to checkboxes in email preferences page (or is there a better way?)
Hi,We’re setting up our Klaviyo (and it’s all going very well so far, I’m enjoying it! 😀)I’ve got a little question regarding self-segmentation. We would like our customers to choose what kinds of messaging they receive (news/offers/guides) and subject areas of interest (e.g. teaching/accountancy/healthcare). We don’t want to send them emails about irrelevant subjects.I’d like them to be able to manage that so instead of choosing to unsubscribe from all, they might just choose to receive emails on a narrower selection of topics.Initially I thought I could tie a list of options to a profile property. If someone choose “Childcare” and “Counselling” in this example the profile property Interests would contain the two list values “Childcare, Counselling”. However I don’t think that’s how Klaviyo’s model works? Is there something I’ve missed here? Or would I be right in thinking we need to use a custom page?https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005077067-How-to-custom-code-consent-
Best way to consolidate custom properties
What is the best way to consolidate custom properties? We have 3 different properties set for the same purpose (signing up for a particular segment of our list).Example:One previous ESP property is set as a tag Another previous ESP property is set as a AB custom property New subscribers with Klaviyo have XY custom property. This is the one we would want the other two to “populate.”They all mean the same thing, but it’s cumbersome setting up segments for them because you have to include all of the options. It would also be cleaner to have everyone with the same customer properties overall.I realize a CVS export/import is probably the way to go, but I’m not sure exactly how to do that in this case. Thanks!
How to sort/filter/paginate members list from a particular group using the API
I’m trying to use the API to retrieve all the recently created users from a List but I’m not able to find any method for that. For example, I want to retrieve the latests members that were added into that list that includes an specific custom property. The closest one is the list-segments endpoints https://apidocs.klaviyo.com/reference/lists-segments#get-members but does not alows any filltering/sorting capabilities. There is any way I can do that with the current API versions? Thanks in advance,Nico
How do I create a Separate Welcome Flow for Vend Subscribers
Hi folks, I’m very new to Klaviyo, and I’m trying to make things easier not harder. (I’m not sure how successful this is right now 🤦♀️)We have the usual pop ups and signs up set up to add to our newsletter list but in our Cellar Door shopfront we use the Vend software - So once a week I’ll be manually adding these subscribers to our list. (unless there is a magic integration i’m yet to find) As they have come direct from our cellar door I’d like to still do a welcome series but i’d like it to be different to the one that organic subscribers see (specifically because they wont be getting a discount) What’s the best way for me to upload these people and have a separate flow? Is it creating a separate list and then adding them to campaigns or should I segment somehow? It’s all bit overwhelming. Thanks
What are the Best Practices for Landing Page / Free Gift Lists?
I’m curious about what others are doing. We have multiple “free gift” landing pages that use Klaviyo forms to sign up users. What I’d prefer is for users to all go to the same list, but be able to get added to a different flow based on that. What I’ve tried is building the flow with:Added to List (Main List) Flow Filter: $source = Signup form nameBut this doesn’t seem to work for existing contacts. I’ve gotten it to work by signing everyone up on separate lists than the main list, but I want to consolidate those into a master list which is what gets sends for things like newsletters. I know that I can create a segment of all of those lists and consolidate that way (which is what I’m currently doing), but I was just curious if there was a more streamlined method?
Why does Mailchimp integration sync subscribers as "Accept Marketing" = False?
Hi there,We moved our Mailchimp account to Klaviyo and started the integration. It works perfectly, except about 50% of the subscribers (double opt-in) from Mailchimp are imported to Klaviyo with column “Accepts Marketing” = false. Did anybody have that problem before?Best Flo
