Best Practices for Multiple SMS Groups

Hello everyone!  I have a quick question.  I just joined Klaviyo, and I plan on using it exclusively for SMS messaging.  My question is...we plan on having two different “keywords” that people can use to signup depending on the kind of content they are interested in.  Some people might want both.  Is it best practice to have two different subscriber lists in this case, or a single “SMS Subscriber” list and then use custom properties to target the two groups using segments? Thanks for any direction you can give!  I obviously want to start in the right direction.

How to find where consent was given?

I see I have consent for the profile, but when I click “Show consent details” I see only date/time (Timestamp). Also, I see $source with negative numbers like -50, -6 in Custom Properties, which I do not understand. Is this number represent app/integration or something where consent was given? How I can decode it?

Shopify Subscribe - Accepts Marketing Property

Hello :) What’s the solution to the below snippet in this article? There are a few situations which can cause someone to have Accepts Marketing set to false, but they're still subscribed to your newsletter:If a customer checks out and decides not to accept email marketing at that time, but later subscribes through a signup form, they'll still be added to your newsletter list. If a customer checks out and does accept email marketing, they'll be added to your newsletter list. If they check out again, they'll probably decide to not subscribe again since they're already subscribed. Depending on your checkout configuration, Shopify might see this as not accepting marketing (Accepts Marketing = false.) You probably don't want to treat this customer as an unsubscribe. Rather, you'll want to keep this customer on your newsletter list.  How will you change the customers marketing consent to true? Surely the signup form will trigger marketing consent as true and take the most recent consent and

Why is my shopify tags segment taking a long time to upload?

When creating a dynamic segment where Properties about someone is a Shopify Tag….I updated a customer tag with the corresponding tag and it took literally 30-minutes to update? Is this normal? I thought updates were instant?Just for reference, when I update the customer tag on Shopify and refresh the users profile, I can see the Shopify Tag Custom Properties updated pretty fast, but the Segment itself is still slow.

How to check status of import?

Hello,I’ve followed the instructions for Export profiles from one list into another so I could delete my non-used lists and create a master list.How will I know when my import is complete? Nothing indicated how I would know. And how do I sanity check that names from the old list are now on the master list? I don’t see how to search a user within a list. I see only that I can search a user and bring up their profile telling me which lists they are on.Thank you!

CSV Import of Array property

When attempting to bulk CSV load a user property that is of List/Array type, the csv importer fails to work despite following the format recommended by the documentation : https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005237648-About-Data-Types#list6 For example the very simple CSV below fails with “column missing” but if I change the property to be a normal string, the upload completes. It looks like the CSV uploader does not actually support List data types despite the documentation. Email,some_propertyvim@gmail.com,["A","B"]

How Can I Search through the Properties options in my account?

Is it possible to search by property?  For example, if you have a text field where you have collected answers from a form, and you have assigned a property to that field, is it possible to search by Property name to see all of the answers you have collected for that Property?

creating a custom list from existing people in klaviyo

I’m new to Klaviyo, and I'm trying to create a custom list of select individuals already in klaviyo, as is described on the option for “list” in the image below.  When I select it, however, I don’t see any way to select any of contacts already in klaviyo.  It would save me the time of uploading their information again, and I don’t know if there are any risks of duplicates.  Hopefully something simple I missed, but I couldn’t find a way to do this in help articles.  I welcome any feedback.

How to create list based on customers birthday information

I have a signup form for emails and birthdays (for babies) in the format DD/MM/YY.I tried to create a list so that subscribers can go into the list of related DOB.For example, if a child is born on 02/10/2022, I want them to go into a list of 0-3 months.                      if a child is born on 02/07/2022,  I want them to go into a list of 3-5 months. and so on.Is this possible or is there a better way I can do this?Please I need solution.Thank you.

why can't gmail users sign up for my newsletter?

Hi!We are new to klaviyo and i’ve just set up my first newsletter which is linked to a segment list. the newsletter is meant for new subscribers so we can build a customer base. We’ve linked our klaviyo newsletter with our shopify shop. We’ve noticed when testing the link, only non-gmail users can succesfully sign-up. If we try to sign up with a gmail account, we do not get a success message and the user is not subscribed.. how can we fix this?

Segment Defaults

I’m just setting up Klayvio.  I’ve integrated my Shopify account and under lists and segment I don’t have a default “Newsletter” segment.  All the instructions say that this should be there.  I’m confounded.  All the other preset segments are there.  I’ve got to be missing something but this key segment is the starting point for everything and is everywhere in the set up instructions.Can someone help?

Signup forms - Where are the rest of my signups?

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me solve where some of my email signups have gone to?In total I have had 26 customers complete my signup form, these are meant to be added to my newsletter. However only 13 are on my newsletter list. I have the double opt in setting selected currently and I was wondering if this was having an impact? Thanks

Churn Risk Segment Question

What’s the best way to come up with the number of days to use in this Churn Risk Segment?https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035312491-Advanced-segmentation-reference#h_6eaf0425-d77d-4a33-a89d-7aadd5dd5871 I’ve tried doing a list export with average days between orders exported along with it, then calculating the average of the average number of days between orders and using that… Is this the way to do it, or is there a better way? Thanks!

Should I suppress all profiles not on newsletter list?

Hi there,I am new to Klaviyo and have a question.I have connected my small woo-commerce shop to Klaviyo. Klaviyo shows 6578 profiles in a standard “all profiles not suppressed” list. Of these 2188 are on my newsletter list - these are the people who have given permission to emails from me (I uploaded these from a csv and I also uploadet profiles who have opted out and suppressed them).My question:The profiles NOT on my newsletter list and not currently suppressed: Should I suppress these? This way I cannot make a mistake and email people I don’t have permission from + also I will not have to pay for them.Yes or no? And why (not)?Thanks in advance!

How can I effectively segment my lists for category page viewers?

Hi, Im looking for advice on how to effectively segment my lists - I have  a store that sells kimonos and jewellery. I have created segments for people who have viewed product or bought product from each category. However I have the issue of people coming onto the website and viewing the category page but not viewing a specific product meaning they dont get segmented. Now as far as I can tell, I can create a rule to segment for viewed product contains xyz but I cannot create a rule for viewed category page. I should also mention that they are being subscribed to a single main list and then being segmented from that list. One solution I have is if i want to send a newsletter about kimonos, I can send to my list and then exclude jewellery buyers/ viewers. However, the issue with this is that I have people who still come onto the jewellery category but dont view products, and thus dont get segmented. So then these people still end up recieving my kimono newsletter when they arent interest

Segmenting by Two Profiles Using the Same Email Address

Hi everyone,  I was wondering if anyone could help me? In order to comply with external regulations, one of my clients need to ensure that each customer on their database has their own account on their website. They currently have a list of customers that have different names and the same email address because they’re a family member, friend etc., but I need to segment these people so that we can add them into a flow to send them the email to update their details or create a separate account.  Does anyone know how I could segment these people? I’ve already tried things such as Person’s first name equals 2 but have had no luck so was hoping someone would know if there’s an answer? I want to be able to get around manually uploading a CSV as a list but don’t know whether it’s possible or not?  Thanks!

Segment/List & Sync Issues between Shopify and Shopify POS

Hello everyone,  I’m hoping i can find some guidance/advice on the issues I am having with my Klaviyo & Shopify.  I’ve been in business for almost a year now but I am now just finally starting to collect more e-mails to gain more traction and revenue both online and in-store. I use Shopify for both my website and POS.  I installed Klaviyo a number of months ago and played with it a little and gave up - I’m more eager than ever now to get in on email marketing but I’ve definitely made a mess out of things when it comes to my lists, segments, customers etc…  Because I use POS through Shopify I find that those customers do not get added or e-mailed with any flows when I did have everything running (flows & campaigns) I’ve also found it hard to get the segments to work properly as currently I have customers who’ve been subscribed and shopping through my business for numerous months but have ended up in new subscribers…  I kind of wish there was just a huge reset button to wipe the

Spam issues

When a contact responds to an email with a SPAM statement, does Klaviyo automatically assign that person to an exclusion list so they won't get future emails and hence reduce my SPAM rate, or do I have to do that manually or ????Many thanks

Provide Existing Subscribers to option to subscribe a new List [Pre Sale Flow]

Hello,I have a E-Mail List and I’am going to gather new Leads for a Pre Sale event. The Pre Sale will be based on a New List. Beside newly acquired E-Mail addresses I would also like to provide my existing Addresses the option to Opt-In to this List and consequently to this flow.How can I provide my Existing Subscribers the option to also become part of the Pre-Sale Event?Example:Existing Newsletter Subscribers = 1000 PeopleNew List for Pre Sale = 0 People1) I will add new Subscribers via Lead Ads2) I want to provide my 1000 existing Subscribers the !Option! to become part of this New List (3-5 Step Flow). I don’t want to provide the flow to them automatically since it might be taken as scammy.My idea is to send my existing 1000 addresses a 2 Step Flow with informing them about this new Product and Pre Sale event.
